Abstract
Penelitian ini berawal dari kasus perundungan di Indonesia yang terjadi di institusi pendidikan. Berdasarkan kasus tersebut, peneliti menyelidiki persepsi guru-guru Bahasa Inggris sebagai Bahasa Asing (EFL) di Universitas X mengenai tingkat dan implementasi pedagogi cinta kasih (Loving pedagogy) selama program praktikum pengajaran yang berhubungan dengan pedagogi cinta kasih. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain studi kasus kuantitatif dengan 112 partisipan guru prajabatan EFL, yang berfokus pada pengalaman mereka dengan kebaikan-empati, keintiman-ikatan, pengorbanan-pengampunan, dan penerimaan komunitas dalam kegiatan di kelas. Peneliti mengadaptasi Kuesioner Skala Pedagogi Cinta Kasih yang mengaitkan konsep-konsep pedagogi cinta kasih dengan tujuan penelitian. Temuan menunjukkan penerimaan positif terhadap pedagogi penuh kasih, yang menunjukkan potensinya untuk meningkatkan keterlibatan dan hubungan siswa. Penelitian ini menggarisbawahi pentingnya manajemen emosi dalam pengajaran, mengusulkan bahwa pedagogi yang berpusat pada cinta kasih dapat mengurangi tantangan pendidikan yang negatif dan menumbuhkan lingkungan belajar yang mendukung. Peneliti merekomendasikan penelitian di masa depan untuk mengeksplorasi pedagogi cinta kasih tentang teori pendidikan lainnya dengan menggunakan metode penelitian yang berbeda. Hal ini dapat memberikan wawasan yang lebih rinci dan mempersiapkan guru pra-jabatan EFL dengan lebih baik untuk menciptakan lingkungan kelas yang penuh kasih dan inklusif. Bagi Fakultas Ilmu Budaya Universitas X, memasukkan pedagogi cinta kasih ke dalam program persiapan guru prajabatan akan membantu para guru menangani tantangan di kelas secara efektif dengan kemungkinan mengurangi kasus perundungan pada siswa mereka. Selain itu, para calon guru dapat menggunakan pedagogi cinta kasih sebagai kriteria untuk refleksi diri untuk memahami dan meningkatkan praktik mengajar mereka selama praktikum.
English Abstract
This study was inspired by the bullying cases in Indonesia that happen in educational institutions. The incident happened from elementary school to university levels. When kids don’t get enough attention at home, they may act aggressively or bully others. Teachers can help stop this by being correctors, informers, and managing the class. They do this through interactions with students during school activities. Teachers need to show attention and care to make up for what kids might be missing at home. This love and attention from teachers can help prevent aggressive behavior and bullying. Loving pedagogy is an educational approach that emphasizes the importance of love, care, and empathy in teaching and learning. The term “teacher-student connection” encompasses the positive and empathetic attitudes and actions shown by educators toward their students. In these cases, the researcher investigated the perceptions of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) pre-service teachers regarding the level and the implementation of loving pedagogy during the teaching practicum program that relates to the awareness of pre-service teachers towards the development of students' emotions. The emphasis on developing and training students as future teachers named pre-service teachers in teacher education stems from the recognition that the presence of quality educators plays an important role in facilitating students' academics. This research used a quantitative case study design with 112 participants of EFL pre-service teachers, focusing on their experiences with kindness-empathy, intimacy-bonding, sacrifice-forgiveness, and community acceptance in classroom activities. The researcher adapted the Loving Pedagogy Scale’s Questionnaire that relates the concepts of loving pedagogy to the research objectives. The findings indicate a positive reception of loving pedagogy, showcasing its potential to enhance student engagement and relationships. The study underscores the importance of emotional management in teaching, proposing that a pedagogy centered on love can mitigate negative educational challenges and foster a supportive learning environment. The researcher recommends future studies to explore loving pedagogy about other educational theories using different research methods. This can provide more detailed insights and better prepare EFL pre-service teachers to create a loving and inclusive classroom environment. For the Faculty of Cultural Studies at X University, incorporating loving pedagogy into the pre-service teacher preparation program would help teachers handle classroom challenges effectively with the possibility of decreasing bullying cases in their students. Additionally, pre-service teachers can use loving pedagogy as a criterion for self-reflection to understand and improve their teaching practices during the practicum.
