Abstract
Sebagai salah satu negara dengan pertumbuhan ekonomi tercepat di dunia, India tentunya memiliki kepentingan untuk memperluas pengaruhnya di kawasan lain, seperti Afrika. Guna mencapai tujuan tersebut, India kemudian menginisiasi bilateral trade agreement dengan Mauritius, yang merupakan negara kepulauan kecil di wilayah Samudra Hindia Barat. Perjanjian yang bertajuk India-Mauritius Comprehensive Economic Cooperation and Partnership Agreement (CECPA) tersebut ditandatangani pada tahun 2021 dan menjadi perjanjian dagang bilateral pertama yang dilakukan India dengan negara Afrika. Mengacu pada hal tersebut, maka penelitian ini bertujuan guna mendeskripsikan berbagai faktor pendorong yang melatarbelakangi perumusan bilateral trade agreement antara India dan Mauritius. Dalam penelitian ini, penulis menerapkan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deksriptif. Melalui konsep bilateral trade agreement milik Jayant Menon, diketahui bahwa sejumlah faktor umum dan spesifik mempengaruhi terciptanya perjanjian dagang bilateral yang dijalin India dengan Mauritius.
English Abstract
As one of the countries with the fastest economic growth in the world, India certainly has an interest in expanding its influence in other regions, such as Africa. In order to achieve this goal, India then initiated a bilateral trade agreement with Mauritius, which is a small island country in the Western Indian Ocean region. The agreement, entitled India-Mauritius Comprehensive Economic Cooperation and Partnership Agreement (CECPA), was signed in 2021 and is the first bilateral trade agreement between India and an African country. Referring to this, this research aims to describe the various driving factors behind the formulation of the bilateral trade agreement between India and Mauritius. In this research, the author applies qualitative methods with a descriptive approach. Through Jayant Menon’s concept of bilateral trade agreement, it is known that a number of general and specific factors influenced the creation of a bilateral trade agreement between India and Mauritius.
