Magister thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.

Abstract

English Abstract

The aim of this research was to find out the effect of addition Black Soldier Fly (Hermatia illucens) oil in different phases, including the larval, prepupa and pupa phases, evaluation of production performance, ileal histomorphology, protein digestibility, and metabolic energy of broiler chicken. The material used is 160 DOC broiler chicken. This research consisted of 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments used were T0: basal feed, T1: T0 + antibiotics, T2: T0 + 0.5% BSF oil from larvae, T3: T0 + 0.5% BSF oil from prepupa, and T4: T0 + 0.5% oil BSF origin of pupa. The variables studied were the viscosity and solubility of BSF oil, production performance (feed consumption, PBB, FCR, IP, and IOFC), ileal histomorphology (ileal pH, number of villi, villous height, crypt depth, and villous surface area), protein digestibility, nitrogen retention, metabolic energy, and N-corrected metabolic energy Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), if significantly different results were obtained then continued with Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results of the 1th step research showed that BSF oil was easily soluble in alcohol and ethanol solvents, while the viscosity results showed that the viscosity of BSF oil from prepupae was higher than BSF oil from larvae and pupae at. The results of the 2th step of research showed that the addition of BSF oil have a significant effect (P<0.05) on feed conversion, index production and ileal histomorphology (number of villus) but did not have a significant effect (P>0.05) on feed consumption, PBB, IOFC, and ileal histomorphology (ileal pH, villus height, crypt depth, and villus surface area). The results of the 3th step of research showed that the addition of BSF oil have a significant effect (P<0.01) on metabolism energy and metabolism energy N corrected, but did not have a significant effect (P>0.05) on protein digestibility and nitrogen retention. The conclusion of this study shows that addition of 0.5% BSF oil from larvae provides the best results on the production performance and histomorphology of the ileal, while addition of 0.5% BSF oil from prepupa provides the best results on energy metabolic
