Abstract

Indonesia menempati urutan kedua sebagai negara dengan penderita Tuberkulosis terbanyak di dunia sejak tahun 2022. Tuberkulosis (TBC) adalah penyakit yang disebabkan oleh bakteri Mycobacterium tuberculosis dan memiliki sifat yang mudah menular. Jember, sebagai wilayah dengan jumlah pengidap penyakit Tuberkulosis terbanyak ketiga di Indonesia memiliki kelompok pegiat TBC bernama Komunitas Sekawan’s TB Jember yang bersinergi untuk mengeliminasi penyakit TBC Resistan Obat di Jember, Jawa Timur. Peer educator menerapkan komunikasi antarpribadi dalam melakukan pendampingan guna menciptakan kenyamanan kepada pasien agar lebih terbuka sehingga peer educator dapat mencapai tujuannya untuk memelihara kepatuhan pasien dalam minum obat. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif dengan tujuan penelitian yaitu untuk mengetahui hubungan yang terjalin antara peer educator dengan pasien TBC-RO serta untuk mengetahui pesan percakapan peer educator dalam komunikasi antarpribadi pada pendampingan pasien TBC Resistan Obat. Jenis dan tipe penelitian deskriptif kualitatif digunakan dalam penelitian ini untuk memaparkan secara dalam mengenai bagaimana hubungan yang terjalin antara peer educator dengan pasien TBC-RO serta bagaimana komunikasi antarpribadi yang dilakukan oleh peer educator dalam pendampingan untuk memelihara kepatuhan pasien untuk minum obat. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh, hubungan yang terjalin antara peer educator dengan pasien TBC-RO merupakan hubungan yang membantu pasien untuk memelihara kepatuhannya dalam minum obat guna perkembangan kondisi pasien yang lebih baik. Ketika melakukan pendampingan, peer educator menerapkan pinsip-prinsip dalam pesan percakapan pada komunikasi antarpribadi yang dilakukannya, yaitu the principle of process, the principle of cooperation, the principle of politeness, the principle of dialogue, dan the principle of turn-taking. Dengan adanya prinsip-prinsip tersebut dalam percakapan pendampingan, peneliti melihat bahwa tujuan komunikasi yang dilakukan oleh peer educator dapat terwujud.

English Abstract

Indonesia on the second position as the country with the most tuberculosis (TB) sufferers in the world since 2022. Tuberculosis (TB) is a disease caused by a Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which is highly contagious. Jember, as the region with the third highest number of TB sufferers in Indonesia, has a TB activist group called Sekawan’s TB Community Jember that synergizes to eliminate drug-resistant Tuberculosis in Jember, East Java. Peer educators use an interpersonal communication in providing assistance to create comfort for patients so that they are more open so that peer educators can achieve their goal of maintaining patient adherence to medication. This research uses qualitative research with the aim of determining the relationship between peer educators and TB-RO patients and understanding the conversational messages of peer educators in interpersonal communication when assisting drug-resistant TB patients. The type and method of descriptive qualitative research used to explain in depth the relationship between peer educators and TB-RO patients and how interpersonal communication is carried out by peer educators in assisting to maintain patient adherence to medication. Based on the data obtained, the relationship between peer educators and TB-RO patients is a relationship that helps patients to maintain their adherence to medication and improve their condition. When providing assistance, peer educators apply principles in their conversational messages during interpersonal communication, that is the principle of process, the principle of cooperation, the principle of politeness, the principle of dialogue, and the principle of turn-taking. With these principles in conversations during mentoring, researchers observe that the communication goals carried out by peer educators can be realized
