Abstract
Sebagian besar kondisi laut saat ini mengalami kerusakan. Kerusakan tersebut terjadi karena adanya pencemaran laut oleh sampah. Akibatnya, pencemaran tersebut mengancam keberlangsungan hidup spesies laut. Hal ini memicu manusia untuk mencari solusi seperti membuat konservasi laut. Finding dory merupakan salah satu film animasi yang mengangkat tentang kerusakan laut. Dalam film ini, sebagian masyarakat peduli tentang keadaan hewan laut yang terancam akibat kerusakan laut. Hal ini memicu manusia untuk membuat konservasi laut yaitu Marine Life Institute yang bertujuan untuk menyelamatkan, merehabilitasi, dan membebaskan hewan laut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan ekokritik sebagai kerangka teoritis utama untuk menemukan bagaimana konservasi laut memberikan dampak positif dan negatif bagi kehidupan hewan laut. Hasil penelitian ini mengungkap beberapa efek positif konservasi laut, yakni menyelamatkan Dory dari sampah dan merehabilitasi beberapa hewan laut yang sakit. Sedangkan efek negatifnya yakni beberapa hewan diperlakukan seperti manusia, keadaan akuarium yang tidak memadai, perubahan kemampuan alami hewan laut, serta penggunaan hewan laut sebagai komoditas ekonomi. Beberapa bukti dalam film ini menunjukan bahwa orang-orang mulai kehilangan kesadaran mereka terhadap efek lain dari konservasi laut. Hal tersebut dapat mempengaruhi keseimbangan alam dan membuat alam semakin rusak. Bagi peneliti selanjutnya, teori animal right dapat digunakan untuk menganalisa objek yang sama. Dengan menggunakan teori tersebut, peneliti dapat memusatkan pada bagaimana hewan tersebut kehilangan haknya di kawasan lindung laut.
English Abstract
Most of marine environment in this world are now damaged. Waste pollution becomes one of the reasons of the sea destruction. As the result, the pollution threatens the life of marine species. This later makes human try to find a solution such as starting to build a marine conservation. Finding Dory is an animation movie that lifts up the issue about sea destruction. In this movie, some people care about the state of sea animals that threatened by marine destruction. Therefore, human start to create sea conservation, which is Marine Life Institute that aims to rescue, rehabilitate, and release sea animals. This research applies ecocriticism approach as the main theoretical framework to reveal how marine conservation gives positive and negative effects to the sea animals. This study reveals that the positive effect of marine conservation are; rescue Dory from rubbish and saves sick animals. Meanwhile, the negative effects of marine conservation are the animal domestication, the existence of inappropriate aquarium in marine life institute, the changing of sea animal‟s natural ability, and sea animals uses as economical commodity. Some evidences in this movie show that people start to lose their awareness towards the other effects of marine conservation. It can affect the nature balance and cause the earth to become more damaged. The next researcher can use animal rights theory to analyze the same object. By using that theory, the researcher can focus on how the animal loses their right in marine protected areas.
