Abstract

Individu yang merasa loneliness seringkali mencari kenyamanan dan kepuasan melalui media sosial, yang dapat memicu kecanduan. Sementara itu, individu dengan tingkat neuroticism tinggi cenderung menggunakan media sosial untuk menghindari kebosanan, yang juga dapat meningkatkan kecanduan mereka. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran loneliness dan trait kepribadian neuroticism terhadap kecanduan media sosial pada remaja akhir. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif korelasional. Responden dalam penelitian ini menggunakan 210 responden dengan rentang usia 18-22 tahun yang dipilih melalui teknik accidental sampling. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah Bergen Social Media Addiction Scale (BSMAS), UCLA Version 3, dan NEO-Five Factor Inventory (FFI). Hasil teknik analisis regresi linear berganda, pada uji F loneliness dan neuroticism berperan terhadap kecanduan media sosial dengan nilai signifikan .000b dan hasil uji T: (1) loneliness berperan negatif terhadap kecanduan media sosial dengan nilai signifikan .021 (p<0.05) dan nilai koefisien -0.52 (β<0). (2) neuroticism berperan positif terhadap kecanduan media sosial dengan nilai signifikan .000 (p<0.05) dan nilai koefisien .224 (β>0), penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peran antara loneliness dan trait kepribadian neuroticism terhadap kecanduan media sosial pada remaja akhir dengan nilai koefisien determinasi regresi R Square sebesar .232 atau 23.2% sedangkan 76.8% lainnya dipengaruhi oleh variabel lainnya. Implikasi dari penelitian ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kesadaran terhadap kecanduan media sosial, meningkatkan kesehatan mental dan emosional serta meningkatkan kesadaran tentang pentingnya berinteraksi secara langsung.

English Abstract

Individuals who feel loneliness often seek comfort and fulfillment through social media, which can lead to addiction. Meanwhile, individuals with high levels of neuroticism tend to use social media to avoid boredom, which can also increase their addiction. Therefore, this study aims to determine the role of loneliness and neuroticism personality traits on social media addiction in late adolescents. The research method used is quantitative correlation. Respondents in this study used 210 respondents with an age range of 18-22 years who were selected through accidental sampling technique. The research instruments used were Bergen Social Media Addiction Scale (BSMAS), UCLA Version 3, and NEO-Five Factor Inventory (FFI). The results of multiple linear regression analysis techniques, in the F test loneliness and neuroticism play a role in social media addiction with a significant value of .000b and the results of the T test: (1) loneliness plays a negative role on social media addiction with a significant value of .021 (p<0.05) and a coefficient value of -0.52 (β<0). (2) neuroticism plays a positive role on social media addiction with a significant value of .000 (p<0.05) and a coefficient value of .224 (β>0), this study shows that there is a role between loneliness and neuroticism personality traits on social media addiction in late adolescents with a regression determination coefficient R Square of .232 or 23.2% while the other 76.8% is influenced by other variables. The implications of this study are expected to increase awareness of social media addiction, improve mental and emotional health and increase awareness about the importance of interacting in person.
