Abstract
Director of Photography sejatinya menentukan sisi pengambilan gambar kreatif sebuah karya. Direct of Photography memiliki sebuah kuasa untuk pemilihan peralatan, tipe pencahayaan, dan tipe perekaman. Maka dari itu Director of Photography harus memahami aspek teknis kamera, pencahayaan. Musik video adalah adalah video yang mendampingi alunan lagu yang dibuat untuk promosi atau nilai artistik music, Video musik dapat menggunakan seluruh teknik pembuatan film dan video seperti animasi, peran hidup, dokumenter dan pendekatan nonnaratif seperti film abstrak. Teknik-teknik tersebut menjadi populer seiring beragamnya audiensi. Adegan dan gambar pada video musik umumnya mengikuti alur lirik sedangkan lainnya cenderung mengikuti pendekatan tematis. Video musik lainnya tidak memiliki konsep apa pun, terkadang hanya rekaman penampilan konser. Penelitian ini membahas mengenai Teknik sinematografi oleh Director of Photography pada produksi musik video yang berjudul “Nothin’ More Than a Friend”. Director of Photography membuat musik video dengan menggunakan pendekatan observasional dalam musik video “Nothin More Than a Friend”. Proses pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan pendekatan penelitian observasi partisipatif. Penelitian kualitatif digunakan untuk memahami makna dari data yang tampak, memahami interaksi sosial dan riset Pustaka.
English Abstract
The Director of Photography actually determines the creative shooting side of a work. The Direct of Photography has a say in the selection of equipment, type of lighting, and type of recording. Therefore, the Director of Photography must understand the technical aspects of cameras and lighting. Music videos are videos that accompany songs that are made for the promotion or artistic value of music. Music videos can use all film and video making techniques such as animation, live roles, documentaries and nonnarrative approaches such as abstract films. These techniques are becoming popular as audiences diversify. Scenes and images in music videos generally follow the flow of the lyrics while others tend to follow a thematic approach. Other music videos do not have any concept, sometimes just recordings of concert performances. This research discusses cinematography techniques by the Director of Photography in the production of a music video entitled "Nothin' More Than a Friend". The Director of Photography made a music video using an observational approach in the music video for "Nothin More Than a Friend". The data collection process uses a participatory observation research approach. Qualitative research is used to understand the meaning of visible data, understand social interactions and library research.
