Magister thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.
Abstract
English Abstract
Backgorund: Lung cancer is a type of cancer with rapid progression and poor prognosis. This study aims to analyze HIF-1 and NLR levels between lung cancer patients who received chemotherapy and black cumin (Nigella sativa) and standard chemotherapy patients. Methods: This research used an Experimental Nonequivalent Control Group Design involving lung cancer patients at RSUD dr. Saiful Anwar, East Java, who has never received chemotherapy. The research sample was selected using random sampling, and the number of samples included was 21 people. Results: The results of the study showed that administering 2x500mg of black cumin extract orally for nine weeks to lung cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy could cause a significant reduction in HIF-1 levels (p=0.009) and NLR (p=0.009). Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that administration of black cumin extract has the potential to reduce HIF-1 and NLR levels in lung cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.
