Abstract

English Abstract

This study aims to analyze differences in the expression of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) and Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2 (HER2) receptors in Triple-Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) and HER2-positive subtypes of breast cancer. The research design used was cross-sectional, involving 38 breast cancer patients, consisting of 19 TNBC patients and 19 HER2-positive patients, who were treated at RSUD dr. Saiful Anwar Malang. VEGF expression was evaluated via immunohistochemical staining and compared between the two groups. Based on the research results, there are significant differences in the expression of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) between patients with Triple-Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) and Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2 (HER2) breast cancer. The average expression of VEGF in TNBC patients was 46.82 with a standard deviation of 13.22. The statistical test results showed a p-value of 0.004, which indicated a significant difference in VEGF expression between the two groups. The results of the analysis showed that VEGF expression in HER2 subtype breast cancer patients was significantly higher than in TNBC subtype. These findings provide additional insight into the biomolecular characteristics of distinct breast cancers, as well as potential clinical implications in the development of more targeted diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
