Abstract

PMK disebabkan oleh infeksi genus Aphthovirus dari keluarga Picornaviridae, berukuran kecil, virus RNA untai tunggal yang tidak terselubung, berbentuk icosahedral, dan berdiameter 26 mm. Penyakit ini menyerang sapi, babi, domba, serta banyak spesies satwa liar berkuku belah dimana terdapat tujuh serotipe virus, yaitu A, O, C, Asia 1, dan SAT 1, 2, dan 3. Infeksi virus PMK memperlihatkan gejala klinis yang patognomonik berupa lepuh atau lesi pada mulut dan kaki. Sejauh ini di Indonesia hanya ada satu tipe virus PMK, yaitu virus tipe O yang menyerang mulut dan kuku. Wabah PMK jika tidak teratasi dengan baik maka akan memberikan dampak kerugian ekonomi bagi pemerintah dan peternak. Faktor kejadian PMK di setiap provinsi di Indonesia diantaranya pemasukan sapi bakalan dari luar kabupaten oleh masyarakat untuk usaha penggemukan/ stok sapi Idul Adha, pemasukan sapi bibit/indukan untuk usaha budidaya ternak sapi potong, pembelian sapi di pasar hewan diluar daerah, kecemasan pemilik sapi jika terlihat sakit kemudian di jual di pasar (panic selling), petugas pelayanan kesehatan hewan yang melayani antar kandang dan antar desa bahkan antar kecamatan, pedagang sapi atau peternak yang mengunjungi kandang yang sakit, lemahnya biosecurity di kandang sapi, alat transportasi ternak untuk pengiriman sapi dari atau ke pasar hewan, dan importasi hewan secara illegal. Hewan yang paling rentan terkena PMK berturut-turut adalah sapi, kerbau, domba, kambing, dan babi. Faktor kejadian hewan rentan diantaranya adalah bagaimana transmisi, gejala klinis, dan patomekanisme virus masuk ke tubuh hewan.

English Abstract

FMD is caused by infection of the genus Aphthovirus from the Picornaviridae family, a small, non-enveloped single-stranded RNA virus, icosahedral in shape, and 26 mm in diameter. This disease attacks cattle, pigs, sheep, and many species of cloven-hoofed wildlife where there are seven virus serotypes, namely A, O, C, Asia 1, and SAT 1, 2, and 3. FMD virus infection shows pathognomonic clinical symptoms in the form of blisters or lesions on the mouth and feet. So far in Indonesia there is only one type of FMD virus, namely the type O virus which attacks the mouth and nails. If the FMD outbreak is not resolved properly, it will result in economic losses for the government and breeders. Factors in the incidence of FMD in every province in Indonesia include the importation of feeder cattle from outside the district by the community for the Idul Adha fattening/cattle stock business, the importation of seed/mother cattle for the beef cattle cultivation business, the purchase of cattle at animal markets outside the region, the anxiety of cattle owners if looks sick and then sells it at the market (panic selling), animal health service officers who serve between pens and between villages and even between sub-districts, cattle traders or breeders who visit sick pens, weak biosecurity in cow pens, livestock transportation equipment for sending cows from or to animal markets, and illegal animal importation. The animals most susceptible to FMD are cows, buffalo, sheep, goats and pigs, respectively. Factors in which animals become susceptible include transmission, clinical symptoms and the pathomechanism of the virus entering the animal's body.
