Abstract
Sosok Munir Said Thalib mempunyai peranan yang amat vital dalam bidang hak asasi manusia di Indonesia. Walaupun ia telah lama meninggal, jasa - jasa beliau masih dikenang oleh banyak orang karena kasus kematiannya pun masih menyisakan misteri hingga saat ini. Berdasarkan kasus tersebut, dua band asal Indonesia terinspirasi untuk menulis lagu yang mengusung tema tentang sosok Munir. Kedua lagu tersebut adalah ‘Refuse to Forget’ milik Navicula dan ‘Di Udara’ milik Efek Rumah Kaca. Penelitian ini akan membahas kedua lagu tersebut yang sama - sama mengangkat tema tentang sosok Munir. Bagaimanapun, kedua lagu memiliki beberapa perbedaan dan persamaan di berbagai aspek. Penelitian ini menggunakan studi sastra bandingan untuk menganalisa persamaan dan perbedaan dalam kedua lagu tersebut. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga menggunakan teori strukturalisme, termasuk penggunaan diksi dan gaya bahasa kiasan untuk dapat lebih memahami makna sesungguhnya yang terkandung dalam kedua lirik lagu tersebut. Pendekatan sosiologi juga diterapkan dalam penelitian ini untuk mengetahui aspek sosial yang mempengaruhi penulis lagu dalam menciptakan karya mereka serta dampak yang dirasakan oleh para pendengar lagu ciptaan mereka. Penelitian ini telah menemukan persamaan yang terdapat pada kedua lagu tersebut. Kedua lagu tersebut didedikasikan untuk sosok Munir. Dengan mengusung tema Munir di dalam lirik lagu mereka, Navicula dan Efek Rumah Kaca ingin menyebarkan nilai nilai positif kepada pendengar lagu mereka. Meskipun memiliki pesan yang sama, kedua lagu tersebut juga memiliki beberapa perbedaan. Navicula menulis lagu mereka dalam Bahasa Inggris dan memainkan lagu tersebut dengan unsur musik rock, sedangkan Efek Rumah Kaca menulis lagu mereka dalam Bahasa Indonesia dan memainkan lagu tersebut dengan unsur musik pop. Selain itu terdapat pula perbedaan dalam aspek struktur lagu. Refuse to Forget terdiri dari 4 bait dan 18 baris sedangkan Di Udara hanya terdiri dari 3 bait dan 14 baris.
English Abstract
The figure of Munir Said Thalib has a very vital role in the field of Human Rights in Indonesia. Even though he has died for a long time, his merit is still be remembered by many people because his death case still remains a mystery until nowadays. Based on that case, the two bands from Indonesia were inspired to write the songs which brought the theme about the figure of Munir. Those two songs are ‘Refuse to Forget’ by Navicula and ‘Di Udara’ by Efek Rumah Kaca. This research will discuss both songs which brought the theme of Munir. However, both songs have some similarities and differences in various aspects. This study uses a comparative study to analyze the similarities and differences in both songs. In addition, this research also employed structuralism theory, including the uses of diction and figurative language to understand more about the true meaning contained in the lyrics of the song. The sociological approach is also applied in this study to find out the social aspects that influenced the songwriters in creating their works and the impact which felt by the listeners of their songs. This research has found the similarities between those two songs. Both songs were dedicated to the figure of Munir. By carrying the themes of Munir in their song lyrics, Navicula and Efek Rumah Kaca wanted to spread the positive values to the listeners of the songs. Despite having the same message, both songs also have some differences. Navicula wrote their song in English and played the song with rock genre while Efek Rumah Kaca wrote their song in Bahasa Indonesia and played the song with pop genre. Besides that there is also the differences in aspects of structure of the songs. Refuse to Forget consists of four stanzas and 18 lines, while Di Udara only consists of three stanzas and 14 lines.
