Abstract

English Abstract

Lahor Reservoir is a reservoir located in Sumberpucung District, Malang Regency, East Java. The Lahor Reservoir is located approximately 32 kilometers south of the city of Malang towards the city of Blitar. Water pollution that occurs around the Lahor Reservoir will affect the quality of the exiting water and not only affect is physical, chemical and biological properties, but the organisms in it will also be affected. Seeing this problem, it is necessary to make efforts to control and monitor reservoir area, so that later the condition of the water quality in the Lahor Reservoir can be know. The purpose of this research is to determine the quality of the water in the Lahor Reservoir, then determine the level of pollution that occurs in the Lahor Reservoir which is reviewed based on the physical chemical and biological parameters of the water and the distribution of the level of water pollution in the Lahor Reservior. This research was conducted from July to September 2023 using a purposive sampling method, where water samples will be taken at 5 observation point with different uses of the surrounding land. The water quality parameter measured are physical parameters including temperature and brightness. Chemical parameters include pH, DO, COD and BOD. As well as biological parameters, namely plankton. Determination of pollution level is carried out using the Pollution Index (IP) method which will then be presented in map from using the Inverse Distance Weighted (IDW) method from Quantum GIS software. The results of water quality calculations in the Lahor Reservoir are temperature (25.1–26.80C), brightness (37–51 cm), pH (8–8.5), Dissolved Oxygen (DO) (5.22–6.35 mg /L), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) (19.12–21.63 mg/L), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) (8.91–9.27). The water quality was then reviewed using the Pollution Index (IP) method and the results showed that the Lahor Reservoir was classified as lightly polluted waters with an IP value of (2.50– 2.63). There are water quality parameters that exceed class II water quality standards, namely (Biological Oxygen Demand) BOD. For biological parameters, namely plankton. Lahor Reservoir is included in mesotrophic waters (with moderate fertility). Based on the plankton composition found, the Genus Microcystis had the highest abundance at all observation stations. You need to be careful about the abundance of the Microcystis genus at all stations, because this genus has toxic properties in the water, so it is a sign that the waters of the Lahor Reservoir have the potential for algae blooming. The Lahor Reservoir has experienced organic pollution due to anthropogenic activities around the river. Based on the research results, suggestions can be given, namely the need to control pollution around the reservoir so that the quality of the reservoir water can be maintained
