Abstract

Penderita stroke iskemik di Indonesia mengalami peningkatan setiap tahunnya. Mayoritas penderita stroke iskemik mengalami hemiparesis atau kelemahan otot ekstremitas atas yang mengganggu Activity Daily Living (ADL). Salah satu terapi non farmakologis yang dapat meningkatkan kekuatan otot ekstremitas atas pada pasien stroke iskemik adalah terapi cermin. Terapi cermin yang diberikan dalam waktu 1 minggu dan 2 minggu terbukti efektif terhadap peningkatan kekuatan otot ekstremitas atas. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh waktu pemberian terapi cermin terhadap kekuatan otot ekstremitas atas pada pasien stroke iskemik. Metode yang digunakan yaitu Quasy Experimental dengan pendekatan two group pretest-posttest design. Penelitian ini melibatkan 32 pasien stroke iskemik yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Responden dibagi menjadi dua kelompok yaitu kelompok perlakuan 1 minggu dan kelompok perlakuan 2 minggu. Kelompok perlakuan 1 minggu diberikan terapi cermin 1x/hari selama 1 minggu dan kelompok perlakuan 2 minggu diberikan terapi cermin 2x/hari selama 2 minggu. Instrumen yang digunakan penelitian ini untuk mengukur kuantitas kekuatan otot yaitu Handgrip Dynamometer dan untuk mengukur kualitas kekuatan otot menggunakan Action Research Arm Test (ARAT). Pengukuran kekuatan otot dilakukan sebelum dan sesudah terapi cermin. Hasil uji Wilcoxon menunjukkan adanya pengaruh pemberian terapi cermin terhadap kuantitas kekuatan otot (p=0,000) dan kualitas kekuatan otot (p=0,000) pada kelompok perlakuan 1 minggu dan kelompok perlakuan 2 minggu. Namun, hasil uji Mann-Whitney menunjukkan tidak terdapat perbedaan signifikan kuantitas kekuatan otot (p=0,985) dan kualitas kekuatan otot (p=0,273) pada kedua kelompok. Terapi cermin dapat direkomendasikan sebagai terapi rehabilitas

English Abstract

Ischemic stroke sufferers in Indonesia increase every year. The majority of ischemic stroke sufferers experience hemiparesis or upper extremity muscle weakness which interferes with Activity Daily Living (ADL). One nonpharmacological therapy that can increase upper extremity muscle strength in ischemic stroke patients is mirror therapy. Mirror therapy given within 1 week and 2 weeks was proven to be effective in increasing upper extremity muscle strength. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of timing of mirror therapy on upper extremity muscle strength in ischemic stroke patients. The method used is Quasy Experimental with a two group pretest-posttest design approach. This study involved 32 ischemic stroke patients who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Respondents were divided into two groups, namely the 1 week treatment group and the 2 week treatment group. The 1 week treatment group was given mirror therapy 1x/day for 1 week and the 2 week treatment group was given mirror therapy 2x/day for 2 weeks. The instrument used in this research to measure the quantity of muscle strength is the Handgrip Dynamometer and to measure the quality of muscle strength using the Action Research Arm Test (ARAT). Muscle strength measurements were carried out before and after mirror therapy.
