English Abstract
This study aims to evaluate the nutrient status of beef cattle breeders in Plosoklaten Subdistrict, Kediri District, by reviewing their nutrient adequacy. The focus of the study was on analyzing the type of feed given, the nutrient content of feed, and feed consumption by beef cows. Feed was collected from 3 villages in Plosoklaten District. The methods used included primary data collection through direct observation and interviews with 30 farmers in 3 villages in Plosoklaten District, as well as proximate analysis of feed samples at the Feed Nutrition Laboratory of the Batu Livestock Training Center. The results showed that the majority of farmers use forage feed such as elephant grass, field grass, sugarcane tops, and corn stover, as well as supplementary feed in the form of concentrates, rice bran, and pollard. Nutrient content analysis showed that elephant grass and field grass had dry matter (BK) contents of 18.9% and 20%, and crude protein (PK) contents of 9.2% and 6.89%, respectively. However, the consumption of a single feed consisting of elephant grass is not sufficient to meet the consumption needs of BK and PK. The combination of elephant grass, slamper, and concentrate proved to be able to meet the consumption needs of PK, BK, and total digestible nutrients (TDN). In conclusion, although the feed provided already contains sufficient nutrients, the variety and combination of feed still needs to be improved to ensure all the nutritional needs of beef cows are met. This study recommends the use of technology to improve the quality of agricultural waste and feed preservation such as hay and silage to improve the quality and adequacy of animal feed in Plosoklaten subdistrict
