Abstract
Self-criticism merupakan sebuah pandangan negatif yang diberikan oleh individu terhadap dirinya sendiri dan rentan terjadi pada emerging adulthood dikarenakan adanya kompleksitas dalam pemenuhan tugas perkembangan yang dapat menjadi sumber evaluasi negatif terhadap pencapaian diri. Faktor lain yang dapat berkontribusi terhadap self-criticism adalah adverse childhood experiences yang terjadi sebelum masa emerging adulthood dimulai serta loneliness yang merupakan endemik di kalangan individu dengan rentang usia emerging adulthood. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran adverse childhood experiences dan loneliness terhadap self-criticism pada emerging adulthood. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif desain korelasional dengan teknik analisis data multiple linear regression. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 479 individu berusia 18-25 tahun yang dipilih melalui teknik accidental sampling. Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah Level of Self-Criticism (LOSC), Adverse Childhood Experiences - International Questionnaire (ACE-IQ), dan UCLA Loneliness Scale Version 3. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adverse childhood experiences dan loneliness berkontribusi secara simultan terhadap self-criticism dan mampu menjelaskan varians sebesar 27.3%. Di samping itu, adverse childhood experiences dan loneliness juga ditemukan secara signifikan memberi peran positif secara parsial terhadap self-criticism. Temuan yang didapatkan menunjukan bahwa keberadaan atas pengalaman dan perasaan individu selama proses perkembangan menjadi hal yang perlu disoroti dalam memahami proses terbentuknya self-criticism pada emerging adulthood
English Abstract
Self-criticism is the negative perspective individuals adopt toward themselves and often emerges during emerging adulthood due to the complexity in completing developmental tasks that introduces vulnerability, becoming a source of negative self-evaluations regarding personal achievements. Additional contributing factors to self-criticism include adverse childhood experiences preceding emerging adulthood and the prevalent loneliness experienced by individuals within the age range of emerging adulthood. Hence, this study seeks to explore the impact of adverse childhood experiences and loneliness on self-criticism during emerging adulthood. The research employs a quantitative correlational design, utilizing multiple linear regression for data analysis. The study includes a sample of 479 individuals aged 18-25, selected through the accidental sampling technique. Measurement instruments consist of the Level of Self-criticism (LOSC), Adverse Childhood Experiences - International Questionnaire (ACE-IQ), and UCLA Loneliness Scale Version 3. The results indicate that adverse childhood experiences and loneliness simultaneously contribute to self-criticism, accounting for 27.3% of the variance. Furthermore, both adverse childhood experiences and loneliness were found to significantly play a positive role individually in the development of self-criticism. These findings show that the existence of individual experiences and emotions during the developmental process is something that needs to be highlighted in understanding the process of self-criticism formation in emerging adulthood.
