Abstract
Penggunaan teknologi informasi telah menjadi hal umum di berbagai sektor bisnis, termasuk dalam industri penjualan seperti Rez Speed Motoshop, yang khususnya fokus pada penjualan knalpot motor. Awalnya, toko telah mengadopsi sistem informasi berbasis desktop. Namun, seiring berjalannya waktu, sistem tersebut mulai menunjukkan keterbatasan, seperti keterbatasan akses di luar lokasi server, seringnya terjadi kesalahan, dan penyajian laporan transaksi yang kurang efisien. Kendala ini mengakibatkan penurunan produktivitas staf karena menghabiskan banyak waktu. Oleh karena itu, penting untuk menganalisis kembali apakah sistem yang digunakan saat ini masih merupakan pilihan yang optimal ataukah ada alternatif platform seperti web yang lebih cocok. Oleh karena tantangan tersebut, sebuah penelitian dilakukan untuk memeriksa perubahan antara sistem informasi berbasis desktop dan web. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen kuantitatif dengan uji t berpasangan untuk membandingkan efisiensi kedua platform tersebut. Hasil uji menunjukkan bahwa dari test case 1 hingga 8 diperoleh nilai signifikansi sebesar (<.001) dan pada test case 9 diperoleh nilai signifikansi sebesar (.014). Ini menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan efisiensi waktu antara sistem berbasis desktop dan web. Selain itu, dari data eksperimental tersebut, terlihat peningkatan efisiensi sebesar 49.95% ketika beralih dari sistem desktop ke sistem berbasis web.
English Abstract
The use of information technology has become common in various business sectors, including the sales industry like Rez Speed Motoshop, which specifically focuses on motorcycle exhaust sales. Initially, the store had adopted a desktopbased information system. However, over time, the system began to show limitations, such as restricted access outside the server location, frequent errors, and inefficient transaction reporting. These challenges have led to a decrease in staff productivity due to time-consuming processes. Therefore, it is important to reassess whether the current system is still the optimal choice or if there are alternative platforms such as web-based systems that are more suitable. In light of these challenges, a study was conducted to examine the differences between desktop-based and web-based information systems. This research employed a quantitative experimental method using paired t-tests to compare the efficiency of both platforms. The test results showed that from test case 1 to 8, the significance value obtained was (<.001), and for test case 9, the significance value obtained was (.014). This indicates that there is a difference in efficiency between desktop-based and web-based systems. Furthermore, from the experimental data, there was an observed increase in efficiency of 49.95% when transitioning from a desktop-based system to a web-based system.
