Abstract
English Abstract
According to the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) 2021 data, more than half a billion adults worldwide suffer from diabetes mellitus (DM), reaching around 10.5% of the population aged 20-79 years. Disturbed counterregulatory responses in DM patients increase the risk of severe hypoglycemia, potentially leading to increased mortality rates. Hy-NEWSS has been developed as a preventive measure, particularly in hospital settings, yet empirical evaluation of its implementation remains limited. This study adopts a non-experimental evaluative mini-research approach to gather data from DM patients undergoing screening using the Hy-NEWSS tool and protocol for three days. Of the ten patients involved in the study, 80% were identified as having a high risk of severe hypoglycemia. However, at the end of the study, there were no instances of severe or mild hypoglycemia. The research findings also indicate that Hy-NEWSS is effective in preventing severe hypoglycemia events in DM patients in a hospital environment. Based on this initial study, it can be concluded that Hy-NEWSS is effective in preventing severe hypoglycemia, accurately identifying patients' risk levels, and can be well-implemented in a hospital setting. Further research is needed to validate these findings and identify factors influencing protocol implementation in various clinical contexts.
