Abstract

English Abstract

The Elaboration Likelihood Model (ELM) theory proposed by Petty & Cacioppo (1983) is a theory that is useful for determining the effectiveness of persuasive communication. ELM theory is used to determine how a person processes information and predicts the influence of a message on the attitude of the message recipient. There are two routes for someone to process and be influenced by messages, namely through the central route and the peripheral route. In this research, the reality-variety show 2 Days 1 Night is an entertainment program as well as a tourism promotion that has messages conveyed as well as peripheral signals as a persuasive communication effort. ELM theory is used to determine the influence of argument quality, source credibility, and audience involvement on visiting interest. This research used a quantitative method by collecting data in the form of an online questionnaire from 115 respondents who had watched the realityvariety show 2 Days 1 Night episode 69. The analysis technique used was multiple linear regression. The results of multiple linear regression analysis show that the significance of each independent variable is less than 0.05, the significance of all independent variables together also shows 0.05, and the coefficient of determination is 0.362 or 36.2%. Based on the results that have been found, it can be concluded that argument quality, audience involvement, source credibility, and audience engagement in the reality-variety show 2 Days 1 Night episode 69 have a significant and positive effect on interest in visiting.
