Abstract

Mahasiswa Tuli yang sedang berkuliah masih menghadapi berbagai tantangan karena standar pendidikan yang masih disusun berdasarkan kebutuhan individu yang dapat mendengar. Dalam menghadapi tantangan yang muncul, perlu adanya penerapan strategi cognitive emotion regulation yang efektif melalui penggunaan strategi adaptif. Penggunaan adaptive cognitive emotion regulation secara terus menerus akan berdampak positif pada psychological well-being seorang individu. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan penggunaan strategi cognitive emotion regulation dengan psychological well-being mahasiswa penyandang disabilitas Tuli. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif korelasional. Responden dari penelitian ini berjumlah 92 mahasiswa penyandang disabilitas Tuli dari seluruh Indonesia yang didapatkan dengan metode exponential non-disriminative snowball sampling. Data dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis pearson product moment correlation dengan bantuan software SPSS 23 for windows. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ) dan Psychological Well-being Scale. Berdasarkan analisis yang telah dilakukan, terdapat korelasi positif antara adaptive cognitive emotion regulation dengan psychological well-being dan hubungan negatif antara maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation dengan psychological well-being mahasiswa penyandang disabilitas Tuli. Dari penelitian ini, dapat diketahui bahwa penggunaan strategi adaptive cognitive emotion regulation memiliki hubungan positif dengan tingkat psychological well-being mahasiswa penyandang disabilitas Tuli dan sebaliknya pada penggunaan maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation. Hasil penelitian ini kemudian dapat digunakan sebagai pertimbangan dalam pemilihan penggunaan strategi regulasi cognitive emotion regulation yang lebih adaptif pada mahasiswa penyandang disabilitas Tuli.

English Abstract

Deaf students who are currently pursuing higher education still face various challenges due to educational standards that are still designed based on the needs of typically hearing individuals. In facing the challenges that arise, it is necessary to implement effective cognitive emotion regulation strategies through the use of adaptive strategies. The continuous use of adaptive cognitive emotion regulation will have a positive impact on an individual's psychological well-being. Therefore, the primary objective of this study is to examine the potential correlation between the usage of cognitive emotion regulation strategies and the psychological well-being of deaf college students. This research employs a correlational-quantitative methodology. The respondents in this study consist of 92 deaf college students in Indonesia who were sampled using exponential non-discriminative snowball sampling as the chosen technique. Data were analyzed with the help of SPSS 23 for Windows using pearson product moment correlation test. The assessment tools used in this study include the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ) and the Psychological Well-being Scale. This study found a positive correlation between adaptive cognitive emotion regulation and psychological well-being and a negative correlation between maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation and psychological well-being. This study found that the use of adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies has a positive correlation with the level of psychological well-being of Deaf college students, while the opposite is true for the use of maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies. The results of this study can be used as a consideration in choosing the use of more adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies for Deaf college students
