Abstract

s corona saat ini adalah sebuah kondisi darurat kesehatan, penyikapannya pun disesuaikan dengan protokol di bidang kesehatan itu sendiri, yang sepenuhnya ditetapkan atau dikaji berdasar ilmu pengetahuan modern. Namun, terdapat sebagian masyarakat di Indonesia yang melihat pandemi ini dari sudut pandang yang berbeda. Di Bali misalnya, masyarakat adat di sana menggelar kegiatan yang dikelompokkan dalam dua bidang, yaitu sekala dan niskala. Sekala adalah aktivitas yang terlihat dan niskala berkaitan dengan apa yang tidak terlihat Umat Hindu di Bali sendiri percaya tubuh manusia dan alam disusun berdasarkan unsur yang sama, yaitu tanah (padat), air (cair), udara, api, dan ruang kosong. Jika tubuh manusia mengalami sakit, maka mereka percaya kemungkinan ketika itu alam juga sedang terganggu. Karena itulah, untuk mencegah penularan virus ini, tidak cukup melakukan pendekatan atau aktivitas sekala, masyarakat di Bali merasa penting juga untuk melakukan aktivitas niskala. Kepercayaan dalam religi berhubungan dengan bayangan manusia terhadap dunia gaib. Menjaga kesehatan diri dan lingkungan itu sendiri adalah langkah utama atau aturan dalam mengantisipasi Covid-19 tersebut. Kata virus tersendiri sudah didefiniskan oleh masyarakat di sana dengan sebutan sasab merana, gering, atau tatumpur, karena virus tersebut termasuk dalam sebuah konteks “marabahaya”. Maka dari itu penelitian ini akan melihat sudut pandang spiritual masyarakat Bali (niskala) dalam menangani pandemi ini. Penelitian ini berguna untuk menelusuri unsur-unsur yang mendukung dari sistem religi masyarakat Bali dalam menghadapi pandemi Covid-19 melalui emosi keagamaan yang disampaikan dengan berbagai upacara keagamaan seperti ritus dan peralatan atau perlengkapan upacara yang memiliki makna tersendiri terhadap kepercayaan mereka sebagai bentuk penanganan wabah Covid-19

English Abstract

For the majority of people in Indonesia, the current pandemic caused by the corona virus is a health emergency, the response to which is adjusted to protocols in the health sector itself, which are fully established or studied based on modern science. However, there are some people in Indonesia who see this pandemic from a different perspective. In Bali, for example, the indigenous people there hold activities that are grouped into two areas, namely sekala and niskala. Sekala is a visible and noetic activity related to what is invisible. Hindus in Bali themselves believe that the human body and nature are structured based on the same elements, namely earth (solid), water (liquid), air, fire and empty space. If the human body experiences pain, then they believe that it is possible that nature is also being disturbed. For this reason, to prevent the transmission of this virus, it is not enough to carry out a one-time approach or activity, people in Bali feel it is also important to carry out no-scale activities. Belief in religion is related to humans' imagination of the unseen world. Maintaining personal health and the environment itself is the main step or rule in anticipating Covid-19. The word virus itself has been defined by the people there as sasab merana, gering, or tatumpur, because the virus is included in a "distress" context. Therefore, this research will look at the spiritual perspective of the Balinese people (niskala) in dealing with this pandemic. This research is useful for exploring the supporting elements of the Balinese people's religious system in facing the Covid-19 pandemic through religious emotions conveyed in various religious ceremonies such as rites and equipment or ceremonial equipment which have their own meaning regarding their beliefs as a form of handling the Covid- 19 outbreak.
