Abstract

Pemilihan presiden merupakan bentuk perwujudan asas demokrasi di Indonesia, sehingga masyarakat hendaknya berpartisipasi dalam memberikan suara. Data yang diperoleh dari Badan Pusat Statistika (BPS) menunjukkan penurunan partisipasi yang cukup signifikan dari tahun 1955 hingga 2019. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui peran kepercayaan politik terhadap intensi partisipasi politik, dengan identifikasi dengan pemerintah sebagai mediator. Penelitian ini melibatkan 215 responden yang merupakan mahasiswa berusia 17 – 25 tahun, dengan menggunakan teknik convenience sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan skala partisipasi politik, skala kepercayaan politik, dan skala identifikasi dengan pemerintah. Hasil uji hipotesis menggunakan simple mediation PROCESS Macro Hayess yang menunjukkan bahwa kepercayaan politik tidak secara langsung berperan terhadap intensi partisipasi politik. Kepercayaan politik berperan positif terhadap identifikasi dengan pemerintah. Identifikasi dengan pemerintah berperan positif terhadap intensi partisipasi politik. Identifikasi dengan pemerintah berperan dalam memediasi peran positif kepercayaan politik terhadap intensi partisipasi politik. Implikasi dari penelitian ini adalah sebagai pandangan bagi pemerintah untuk meningkatkan kepercayaan masyarakat melalui kinerja yang berkualitas, serta sebagai acuan bahwa salah satu prediktor intensi partisipasi politik adalah kepercayaan politik dan identifikasi dengan pemerintah. Keterbatasan dari penelitian ini adalah pengujian hasil perlu dilakukan oleh penelitian lain karena peneliti menggunakan skala penelitian partisipasi politik untuk mengukur intensi partisipasi politik, sehingga disarankan untuk menggunakan variabel partisipasi politik apabila ingin melakukan replikasi penelitian.

English Abstract

The presidential election is a form of reform as democracy in Indonesia, so that people are willing to participate in voting. Data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows a significant decline in participation from 1955 to 2019. The aim of this research is to determine the role of political trust in the intensity of political participation, with identification with the government as a mediator. This research involved 215 respondents who were students aged 17 – 25 years, using convenience sampling techniques. This research uses a political participation scale, a political trust scale, and an identification scale with the government. The results of hypothesis testing using the simple mediation PROCESS Macro Hayess show that political trust does not directly play a role in the intensity of political participation. Political trust plays a positive role in identification with the government. Identification with the government plays a positive role in the intensity of political participation. Identification with the government plays a role in mediating the positive role of political trust on the intensity of political participation. The implications of this research are as a perspective for the government to increase public trust through quality performance, as well as a reference that one of the predictors of the intensity of political participation is political trust and identification with the government. The limitation of this research is that testing the results needs to be carried out by other research because researchers use the political participation research scale to measure the intensity of political participation, so it is recommended to use political participation variables if you want to carry out research replication..
