English Abstract
The existence of video games and online games in daily life has become a medium of communication nowadays. The virtual world of games is powerful because playing games is considered a medium to help the development of language and social skills. As a result of their participation, gamers can discuss games, share ideas, and follow directions. Women are usually considered as a minority in online gaming, and research has consistently stated that they often experience general harassment and sexual harassment from other people or other gamers. Women reported specific coping strategies to reduce harassment, including hiding their identities, avoiding communication with other players, and seeking help or social support in and out of play. 13.7% of respondents have experienced online stalking, 12.1% received threats of rape, 8.8% received death threats, and 4.9% received threats against their family or loved ones. In addition to these things, sexist comments, insults about the ability to play games, and various obscenities were uttered. When disclosing their gender, female gamers (26%) were accused of hacking or cheating, 54% were asked to have sex, and 69% of female gamers eventually withdrew from the gaming session due to a bad experience. This research discusses about how gender reality is portrayed in online game community specifically in SNL CLAN Discord Channel. Conducted using in-depth interview and purposive sampling with respondents from both gender, female and male whose as an active gamer and also user of Discord Channel.
