Abstract

English Abstract

Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) as a national park that stores a diversity of flora species has aspects for conservation purposes. One of the endemic flora that became the icon of TNBTS is edelweiss flower (Anaphalis spp.). Edelweiss flowers are an obligatory plant in the traditional rituals of the Tengger people. The edelweiss flower population can decline due to the presence of surrounding plants. The diversity of plant species that coexist with edelweiss flowers and their benefits for conservation sustainability and local wisdom of the Tengger people has never been studied. Therefore, this study aims to determine the environmental conditions in which edelweiss flowers grow in the TNBTS area, the interaction between plants in the vicinity, and the benefits of the diversity of plant species revealed through ethnoecological studies. This study was conducted by plant inventory by determining the research location by purposive sampling divided into five points with a plot size of 2x2 m². The results of the inventory were analyzed by calculating the index of important value (INP). The results of the determination of abiotic factors were analyzed descriptively. The results of semi-structured interviews were compiled to determine the index value of cultural importance (ICS) and described based on ICS calculation. The results showed that A. javanica, A. longifolia, and A.viscida grow in the Penanjakan Resort area of TNBTS with an altitude of 2160-2706 m above sea level and soil texture of dusty loam and dusty sand. Based on 18 individuals found, Erigeron sumatrensis has the highest INP with an ecological role as a biosaka. Debregeasia longifolia has the highest ICS and is used as a good water-absorbing plant.
