Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan menjelaskan perbedaan antara knowledge hiding dan lack of knowledge sharing yang merupakan konsep turunan dari perilaku kontraproduktif terhadap pengetahuan (counterproductive knowledge behavior) dosen perguruan tinggi swasta di lingkungan Provinsi Kalimantan Selatan. Penelitian ini menelaah faktor penyebab yang terdiri dari faktor individu, faktor teknologi informasi dan faktor organisasi. Selanjutnya penelitian ini juga menelaah lebih jauh implikasi dari kedua faktor tersebut terhadap kinerja dosen serta peran dari owned knowledge evaluation sebagai pemoderasi. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada dosen di 11 perguruan tinggi swasta terakrediasi B dan Baik Sekali di Kalimantan Selatan dengan populasi sebanyak 901 orang. Penelitian ini melibatkan 277 orang dosen dengan berbagai jabatan fungsional. Metode pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode survey yang terdiri dari 51 butir item pernyataan. Dari pengumpulan data, pengujian hipotesis menggunakan metode Partial Least Square (SEM�PLS). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor individu dan faktor teknologi informasi menunjukkan pengaruh signifikan terhadap knowledge hiding, sedangkan faktor organisasi tidak menunjukkan pengaruh signifikan. Pengaruh faktor individu, faktor teknologi informasi dan faktor organisasi berpengaruh signifikan pada lack of knowledge sharing. Pengujian hipotesis knowledge hiding dan lack of knowledge sharing terhadap kinerja dosen menunjukkan pengaruh negatif signifikan. Meskipun demikian lack of knowledge sharing menunjukkan pengaruh yang lebih dominan. Pengujian moderasi menunjukkan bahwa owned knowledge evaluation dapat memperlemah knowledge hiding secara positif meningkatkan kinerja dosen. Sementara peran owned knowledge evaluation tidak dapat memperlemah lack of knowledge sharing terhadap kinerja dosen. Implikasi teoritis dalam penelitian ini adalah mengintegrasikan knowledge hiding dan lack of knowledge sharing terhadap kinerja, dimana lack of knowledge sharing menunjukkan hasil yang lebih dominan. Selanjutnya, owned knowledge evaluation dapat memiliki peran penting dalam memperlemah hubungan negatif antara knowledge hiding terhadap kinerja dosen. Selanjutnya, secara praktis keberadaan dari lack of knowledge sharing menunjukkan bahwa organisasi harus lebih sadar terhadap perilaku negatif ini. Para pengelola perguruan tinggi swasta perlu membangun strategi yang dapat mengurangi dampak negatif dari knowledge hiding dan lack of knowledge sharing terhadap kinerja dosen. Dengan demikian, membangun kesadaran individu dosen terhadap potensi hilangnya pengetahuan dan investasi pengetahuan merupakan hal yang perlu ditindaklanjuti.

English Abstract

The objective of this research is to analyze and elucidate the differences between knowledge hiding and lack of knowledge sharing, which are the derivative concepts of contra�productive knowledge behaviors, among higher education lecturers in South Kalimantan. This study also studies the causing factors consisting of individual, organizational, and information technological factors. Furthermore, this research discusses further about the implication of those factors on lecturer’s performance and about the roles of owned knowledge evaluation as the moderator. This research was conducted on lecturers at 11 “B”s and “Very Good” accredited private universities in South Kalimantan with a population of 901. This research involved 277 lecturers with various functional positions. The data collection method in this research uses a survey method consisting of 51 statement items. Hypothesis testing uses the partial least square (SEM-PLS). This study finds that individual and information technological factors significantly affect knowledge hiding, while the organizational factor does not have any significant impact. Further, individual, organizational, and information technological factors have significant effects on lack of knowledge sharing. Then, although knowledge hiding and lack of knowledge sharing were found to have significant negative influence on the lecturers’ performance, lack of knowledge sharing has a more dominant effect. Finally, this study finds that owned knowledge evaluation weakens the influence of knowledge hiding and positively enhance the lecturers’ performance, but it does not weaken the effect of lack of knowledge sharing on the lecturers’ performance. The theoretical implication of this study is the integration of knowledge hiding and lack of knowledge sharing into performance, in which lack of knowledge sharing has a more dominant impact. Then, as owned knowledge evaluation might have a crucial role in diminishing the negative relationship between knowledge hiding and the lecturers’ performance, lack of knowledge sharing practically signifies that the organizations must be more aware of this negative behavior, although knowledge hiding is also a real action. The managers of the higher educations need to devise a strategy that enables them to reduce the negative effects of knowledge hiding and lack of knowledge sharing on the lecturers’ performance. Therefore, building the lecturers’ awareness to the potential losses in knowledge and its investment is something that needs to be followed up.
