English Abstract
The LGBTIQ+ community in Indonesia faces pervasive stigma, discrimination, and violence, particularly in 2016, where sentiments against LGBTIQ+ individuals escalated, creating a domino effect in subsequent years. Beyond that, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the LGBTIQ+ community experienced layered discrimination and intolerance, especially in the social health sector and, notably, the economy. However, as an NGO advocating for the rights of LGBTIQ+ individuals, Gaya Nusantara employs several strategies to address the challenges of advocating for these rights during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research methodology used in this study is qualitative, employing a descriptive research type with primary and secondary data collected through interviews and literature reviews. The study reveals that Gaya Nusantara utilizes the boomerang pattern strategy within transnational advocacy networks to confront the challenges of advocating for LGBTIQ+ rights in Indonesia. The identified strategies include information politics, symbolic politics, leverage politics, and accountability politics.
