Abstract
Mudahnya karyawan berpindah kerja perlu dijadikan perhatian karena akan berdampak khususnya bagi pihak perusahaan. Salah satu hal yang perlu menjadi perhatian adalah mengenai work engagement pada karyawan, karena apabila karyawan memiliki tingkat work engagement yang tinggi mereka tidak akan dengan mudah meninggalkan pekerjaan mereka. Work engagement menjadi penting dimiliki khususnya pada karyawan generasi milenial yang sangat terbuka dengan kesempatan kerja yang lebih baik. Ada beberapa faktor yang berkontribusi pada pembentukan work engagement diantaranya yaitu quality of work life dan work-life balance. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peran quality of work life terhadap work engagement pada karyawan generasi milenial melalui work-life balance sebagai mediator. Karakteristik sampel adalah karyawan generasi milenial yaitu karyawan kelahiran tahun 1981-1996. Dengan metode snowball sampling, diperoleh responden sebanyak 138. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan yaitu Quality of Work Life (QWL), Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES), dan Work-Life Balance Scale (WLBS). Teknik pengambilan data menggunakan kuesioner berskala Likert dengan analisis data menggunakan Process Macro for SPSS. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa quality of work life berperan positif secara signifikan dalam memprediksi work-life balance, work-life balance berperan positif secara signifikan dalam memprediksi work engagement, quality of work-life berperan positif secara signifikan dalam memprediksi work engagement, dan work-life balance secara signifikan memediasi peran quality of work-life terhadap work engagement. Oleh karena itu, implikasi dari penelitian ini dapat membantu perusahaan untuk memperhatikan quality of work-life dan work-life balance karyawan milenial untuk dapat meningkatkan work engagement.
English Abstract
The ease with which employees change jobs needs to be considered because it will have an impact, especially on the company. One thing that needs to be paid attention to is work engagement among employees because if employees have a high level of work engagement, they will not easily leave their jobs. Work engagement is important, especially for millennial generation employees, who are very open to better job opportunities. Several factors contribute to the formation of work engagement, including quality of work-life and work-life balance. This research aims to determine the role of quality of work life on work engagement in millennial generation employees through work-life balance as a mediator. The sample characteristics are millennial generation employees, namely employees born between 1981 and 1996. A total of 138 respondents were selected using snowball sampling. The research instruments used were the Quality of Work Life (QWL), Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES), and Work-Life Balance Scale (WLBS). The data collection technique used a Likert scale questionnaire with data analysis using a Process Macro for SPSS. The results of the study concluded that quality of work-life played a significantly positive role in predicting work-life balance, work-life balance played a significantly positive role in predicting work engagement, quality of work life played a significantly positive role in predicting work engagement, and work-life balance significantly mediated the role of quality of work-life on work engagement. Therefore, the implications of this research can help companies pay attention to the quality of work-life balance of millennial employees to increase work engagement.
