Abstract
Adanya website memudahkan penyebaran informasi kepada khalayak ramai. Saat ini, banyak institusi pendidikan telah menggunakan website sebagai sarana penyebaran informasi dan layanan yang mereka miliki untuk dibagikan dengan dunia luar. Begitu pula Fakultas Ilmu Administrasi Universitas Brawijaya menggunakan website sebagai media pembelajaran untuk mempromosikan fakultas kepada calon mahasiswa dalam dan luar negeri serta memperluas jaringan ke luar negeri. Dalam hal ini, penggunaan website versi bahasa Inggris sangat penting sebagai fasilitas untuk mengembangkan komunikasi dan kerjasama dengan pihak internasional. Dalam tugas akhir ini, dijelaskan strategi penerjemahan, teknik yang digunakan, langkah-langkah dalam proses penerjemahan, kesulitan yang dihadapi penulis saat menerjemahkan bagian dari website, dan solusi dari tantangan yang dihadapi. Strategi tersebut menggunakan beberapa langkah dalam menghasilkan terjemahan, antara lain meminta izin kepada fakultas; menganalisa; mengelompokan konten; menerjemahkan; mengoreksi; merevisi; dan mengunggah. Metode penerjemahan yang digunakan adalah terjemahan langsung (yaitu, terjemahan literal, peminjaman, calque) dan reduksi.
English Abstract
The existence of a website makes people easier providing information. Educational institutions have used the website as a place for them to provide information and services that they have to share with the outside world. Likewise, the Faculty of Administrative Science, Universitas Brawijaya, use its website as a learning tool to promote the faculty to prospective domestic and international students and expand networks abroad. In this case, using the English version of the website is essential to facilitate the development of communication and collaboration with international parties. In this final project, the strategies for translation are explained, the techniques used, the steps of translating process, the difficulties the writer faces when translating the part of the website, and the solutions to the challenges encountered. The strategies are using some steps in producing the translation, including Asking permission; Analyzing; Grouping; Translating; Proofreading; Revising; Publishing. The methods used are primarily direct translation (i.e. literal translation, borrowing, calque) and reduction.
