Abstract

English Abstract

In recent times, the paradigm of relentless hard work has been on the rise, leading to the emergence of various expressions such as 'chasing time' and 'rushing against time.' This perspective is highly subjective. Trait mindfulness can be considered an attribute that helps focus daily attention, preventing individuals from becoming ensnared in potentially destructive time labeling. The interpretation of time leads to judgments about the speed or slowness of time (the passage of time), which can be observed through two parameters: feeling of time pressure and feeling of time expansion. This study aims to analyze the correlation between trait mindfulness and the passage of time for each parameter using a quantitative correlational method. The participants included undergraduate students aged at least 18 years (N = 418, with 70.3% female participants; M age = 21.41; SD = 2.011). Hypothesis testing with Pearson Correlation revealed that trait mindfulness had a negative correlation with the feeling of time pressure and the feeling of time expansion. This study suggests that trait mindfulness could serve as an alternative for perceiving time and may help reduce biases related to time.
