Abstract

Berdasarkan pengamatan yang dilakukan terhadap pengguna lansia yang menggunakan aplikasi perangkat bergerak untuk kegiatan sehari-hari dan permasalahan yang kerap mereka hadapi, muncul pertanyaan seberapa besar korelasi mengenai beban kognitif yang mereka alami ketika menggunakan aplikasi perangkat bergerak jika ditinjau dari segi penglihatan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan harapan untuk melihat kendala yang mereka alami dan menggunakan informasi ini sebagai masukan saat merancang aplikasi kedepannya, terutama yang akan digunakan oleh pengguna lansia. Metode eye tracking digunakan dalam penelitian ini karena sifatnya yang non-invasif, cocok untuk digunakan terhadap pengguna lansia. Untuk mengukur beban kognitif yang mereka alami, digunakan alat lapor beban kognitif mandiri, yaitu kuesioner NASA Task Load Index (NASA TLX). Setiap dimensi yang relevan (tuntutan mental, tuntutan temporal, kinerja, usaha, dan frustrasi) dianalisis secara terpisah dengan variabel fixation (count dan duration) menggunakan uji korelasi Spearman. Hasil uji korelasi menunjukkan terdapat korelasi positif antara fixation count dengan tuntutan mental, upaya, dan frustrasi. Dimana korelasi ini memiliki kekuatan rendah hingga kuat. Terdapat korelasi negatif antara fixation count dengan kinerja yang memiliki kekuatan rendah. Ada dua korelasi yang berkaitan dengan fixation duration, yaitu dengan upaya dan frustrasi, keduanya merupakan korelasi positif berkekuatan sedang. Diantara faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi adanya korelasi antara pasangan variabel ini adalah, desain dari task, keahlian dan kebiasaan para lansia, serta desain dari aplikasi yang diujikan itu sendiri.

English Abstract

Based on observations made of elderly users who use mobile applications for daily activities and the problems they often face, the question arises as to what extent the correlation regarding the cognitive load they experience when using mobile applications when viewed in terms of vision. This research was conducted with the hope of seeing the obstacles they experience and using this information as an insight when designing future applications, especially those that will be used by elderly users. The eye tracking method was used in this study due to its non-invasive nature, suitable for use with elderly users. To measure the cognitive load they experience, a self-report cognitive load tool, the NASA Task Load Index (NASA TLX) questionnaire, was used. Each relevant dimension (mental demands, temporal demands, performance, effort, and frustration) was analyzed separately with fixation variables (count and duration) using Spearman's correlation test. The correlation test results showed that there was a positive correlation between fixation count and mental demand, effort, and frustration. Where this correlation has low to strong strength. There is a negative correlation between fixation count and performance which has low strength. There are two correlations related to fixation duration, namely with effort and frustration, both of which are positive correlations of moderate strength. Among the factors that can affect the correlation between these pairs of variables are the design of the task, the skills and habits of the elderly, and the design of the tested application itself.
