Abstract

Bencana gempa bumi Lombok 2018, telah memunculkan kearifan lokal berupa upacara ritual (Gawe) lohor yang dipercaya oleh Masyarakat Adat Bayan dapat digunakan untuk menghadapi bencana. Ritual yang dilakukan pada hari jumat merupakan bentuk dari akulturasi antara praktik agama dan adat lokal. Menurut kepercayaan masyarakat adat Bayan, ritual ini untuk melindungi diri mereka dari bencana serta menyembuhkan bumi. Namun juga ritual ini dipercaya oleh masyarakat adat Bayan sendiri dapat mengundang bencana. Ritual ini tidak banyak diketahui oleh masyarakat umum dan bahkan oleh generasi muda Bayan. Padahal, eksistensinya masih berlangsung dan dipertahankan hingga saat ini. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada tahun 2020, menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode etnografi. Dengan teknik pengumpulan data observasi, wawancara, dan penelitian arsip. Teori konstruksi realitas sosial miliki Peter L. Berger & Thomas Luckmann, yaitu eksternalisasi, obyektifikasi, dan internalisasi, digunakan untuk menganalisis temuan ini. Hasil penelitian menemukan, terdapat pengetahuan lokal yang dipercaya oleh masyarakat sebagai penyebab terjadi gempa bumi, termasuk disebabkan oleh upacara ritual (gawe) lohor. Pandangan masyarakat terhadap upacara ritual (gawe) lohor sebagai penyebab terjadinya bencana, dikarenakan dalam tahap objektifikasi terjadi penyimpangan yang dilakukan oleh salah satu tokoh adat dan mendapat penolakan dari tokoh adat lainya. Ini mempengaruhi proses sosialisasi dimasyarakat antara penolak dan pendukung. Begitupula ekternalisasi yang dihasilkan memiliki dampak negative dan positif. Kemudian upacara ini dilakukan kembali untuk menghadapi pandemi Covid-19 dengan bersinergi dengan program pemerintah.

English Abstract

The 2018 Lombok earthquake disaster has given rise to local wisdom in the form of a Lohor ritual ceremony (Gawe) which is believed by the Bayan Indigenous People to be used to deal with disasters. Rituals performed on Fridays are a form of acculturation between religious practices and local customs. According to the beliefs of the Bayan indigenous people, this ritual is to protect themselves from disasters and heal the earth. However, this ritual is also believed by the Bayan indigenous people themselves to invite disaster. This ritual is not widely known by the general public and even by the younger generation of Bayan. Its existence is still ongoing and maintained to this day. This research was conducted in 2020, using a qualitative approach with ethnographic methods. With data collection techniques of observation, interviews, and archival research. Peter L. Berger & Thomas Luckmann's social reality construction theory, namely externalization, objectification, and internalization, is used to analyze this finding. The results of the study found that there is local knowledge that is believed by the community as the cause of earthquakes, including those caused by the Lohor ritual ceremony (Gawe). The community's view of the Lohor ritual ceremony (Gawe) as the cause of the disaster, was because during, the objectification stage, there was a deviation committed by one of the traditional leaders and received rejection from other traditional leaders. This affects the process of socialization in society between resisters and supporters. Likewise, the resulting externalization has a negative and positive impact. Then this ceremony was held again to deal with the Covid- 19 pandemic by synergizing with government programs.
