Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.

Abstract

English Abstract

Cardiac catheterization is an intervention for heart disease patients with the most widely used access using the femoral and radial arteries. Hematoma is a frequent complication after aff sheath procedure. This study aims to compare the incidence of hematoma between aff sheath femoral and radial access. This research uses a cross sectional method with 44 respondents each access according to calculations Slovin for sample, and use purposive sampling. Measurement of the incidence of hematoma was divided into 2 times, namely the 0th hour after aff sheath and 4-6 hours post aff sheath with splinting and immobilization. Hematoma is identified by inspection for changes discoloration like red, purple, or blue, and palpation for swelling around the puncture area. Based on the results of data analysis using chi square test, showed that there was no difference in the incidence of hematoma in post-0 hour aff sheath between the femoral and radial aff sheath with p-value (0.367) > α (0.05). Next at 4-6 hours post aff sheath, the results showed that there was a difference in the incidence of hematoma between femoral and radial aff sheath with p-value (0.003) < α (0.05). Odds ratio also shows that femoral aff sheath has a 4.7 times greater chance of hematoma than radial aff sheath. It can be concluded that there is a difference in the incidence of hematoma between femoral and radial aff sheath with a risk of 4.7 times hematoma in femoral aff sheath at 4-6 hours post aff sheath.
