Abstract
Penelitian ini membahas salah satu warisan budaya suku Dayak yakni topeng tarian Hudoq dari komunitas suku Dayak Modang. Topeng Hudoq Dayak Modang memiliki latar belakang yang diangkat dari peristiwa kesejarahan kehidupan komunitas Modang pada masa lalu dimana tokoh sentral Helaeng Hebeung menjadi titik awal histori. Pada penelitian ini penulis memfokuskan pada potensi perkembangan dan perubahan topeng Hudoq Dayak Modang Kalimantan Timur yang dilihat dari nilai kesejarahan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian jenis kualitatif deskriptif. Dengan objek penelitian adalah topeng Hudoq Dayak Modang. Untuk menunjang penelitian, ada beberapa informasi tambahan melalui buku dan penelitian terdahulu. Sedangkan teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan peneliti adalah berupa tulisan dan lisan yang terdiri dari observasi, wawancara dan studi dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa setiap topeng Hudoq memiliki perbedaan karakter bentuk yang dibedakan pada bagian mata, hidung, mulut dan warna. Bentuk topeng Hudoq didasari oleh pembagian asal roh yakni dasar sungai, hutan belantara, gunung-gunung, alam baka, perwakilan manusia dan penguasa alam serta air yang dimana perkembangan bentuk disesuaikan pada penyempurnaan bentuk topeng. Melihat bentuk dan perkembangan topeng Hudoq, ada beberapa potensi penambahan beberapa element yang dilihat oleh peneliti guna menyempurnakan bentuk dan menambah nilai keindahan topeng.
English Abstract
This research will discuss one of the Dayak tribe’s cultural heritage, the Hudoq dance mask from the Dayak Modang community. The Hudoq Dayak Modang mask has a background raised from the historical life of the satisfying community life in the past where the central figure Helaeng Hebeung became the starting point of history. In this study, the authors focus on the potential development and changes in the Hudoq Dayak Modang East Kalimantan Mask which is seen from the historical value. This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods. The object of research is the Mask Hudoq Dayak Modang. To support research, there is some additional information through books and previous research. While the data collection techniques used by researchers are in the form of writing and oral consisting of observations, interviews, and documentation studies. The results of the study found that each Hudoq mask has a different shape character that is distinguished in the eyes, nose, mouth and color. The shape of the Hudoq mask is based on the division of the origin of the spirit, namely the bottom of the river, wilderness, mountains, the afterlife, representatives of humans and the rulers of nature and water where the development of the shape is adjusted to the perfection of the shape of the mask. Seeing the shape and development of the Hudoq mask, there are several potential additions to several elements seen by researchers in order to perfect the shape and add value to the beauty of the mask.
