Abstract

Kehidupan mahasiswa yang dihadapkan dengan beragam kafe menciptakan sumber lapangan pekerjaan bagi mereka. Pekerjaan kafe yang diisi oleh mahasiswa menghadirkan banyak kerentanan di dalamnya. Secara tidak langsung terdapat berbagai dorongan dari diri mahasiswa memasuki pekerjaan kafe, termasuk keadaaan finansial dari orangtua mereka. Sebuah konsep prekariat mampu mengungkapkan sisi ketidakamanan dari pekerjaan kafe. Tulisan ini menjelaskan beberapa dimensi kerentanan dari mahasiswa pekerja kafe, seperti kontrak kerja, gaji, waktu, serta beban kerja. Meskipun kenyataannya mahasiswa memasuki pekerjaan yang sifatnya genting, mereka tetap melihat sisi kenyamanan bagi dirinya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif disertai pendekatan observasi langsung ke lapangan dari pilihan lokasi dan informan tertentu, wawancara semi struktur, serta dokumentasi dan kajian literatur. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori Precarity dari Guy Standing. Penelitian ini berfokus pada kegentingan dari aspek-aspek kerja seputar industri kafe Malang yang dilalui mahasiswa Universitas Brawijaya

English Abstract

Student life faced with various cafes creates a source of employment for them. Cafe jobs filled by college students present many vulnerabilities in them. Indirectly, there are various encouragements from students to enter café jobs, including financial conditions from their parents. A precariat concept is able to reveal the insecure side of café work. This paper explains several dimensions of vulnerability of café worker students, such as employment contracts, salary, time, and workload. Despite the fact that students enter precarious jobs, they still see the comfort side for themselves. This research uses qualitative research methods accompanied by direct observation approaches to the field from the choice of location and certain informants, semi-structured interviews, as well as documentation and literature review. This study used Guy Standing's theory of Precarity. This research focuses on the precariousness of the work aspects surrounding the Malang café industry that Universitas Brawijaya students go through.
