Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis faktor persentase krom dan jenis pelarut terhadap kualitas fisikokimia kulit wet blue dan kulit samak (leather) dari proses tanning tanpa air. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan November 2021 sampai Februari 2022 di Laboratorium Balai Besar Kulit, Karet dan Plastik Yogyakarta. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu Rancangan Acak Lengkap Tersarang (RAL Nested) dengan 2 faktor yaitu 3 persentase krom (A= 3%, B= 4% dan C=5%) dan 3 jenis pelarut (L1= Air, L2= Etanol dan L3= Aseton) dengan 3 kali ulangan. Materi yang digunakan adalah kulit kambing peranakan etawa (PE), kromium dan pelarut air, etanol dan aseton. Variabel yang diamati adalah kualitas fisik wet blue dan kualitas fisikokimia kulit leather. Data dianalisis menggunakan sidik ragam (ANOVA) apabila diperoleh hasil yang berbeda nyata dilanjutan dengan Uji Jarak Berganda Duncan (UJBD). Faktor persentase krom tersarang pada jenis pelarut berbeda sangat nyata (P<0,01) terhadap kualitas kulit wet blue kecuali pH dan kadar air. Pada kualitas fisikokimia kulit samak (leather) hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan faktor persentase krom tersarang pada jenis pelarut sangat nyata (P<0,01) terhadap kualitas kulit samak (leather). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian penggunaan persentase krom yang tersarang pada jenis pelarut dengan mengacu pada SNI 3538:2021 dan 4593:2011 maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa kualitas wet blue dengan penggunaan jenis pelarut etanol (L2) dan persentase krom 4% (B) merupakan perlakuan terbaik dengan rataan kadar air 54,67%, krom total 3,68%, pH 3,53 dan suhu kerut 91,57°C. Pada kualitas fisikokimia kulit samak (leather) dengan rataan kekuatan sobek 14.40 N/mm2, kekuatan tarik 15,40 N/mm2, kemuluran 54,2%, kadar air 4,6%, krom total 3,64%, kadar abu 4,2 %, kadar lemak 2,4% dan pH 4,1

English Abstract

This research to determine the percentage of chromium and the type of solvent in terms of physicochemical quality of wet blue and leather from waterless tanning process. This research was carried out from November 2021 to February 2022 at the Laboratory of the Center for Leather, Rubber and Plastics Yogyakarta. The research method used was a Nested Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 2-factor nested patterns, Factor 1 is percentage of chromium (A = 3%, B = 4% and C = 5%) and factor 2 namely different types of solvents (L1 = Water, L2 = Ethanol and L3 = acetone) with 3 replications. The materials used in this study was Etawa crossbreed goat skin, chromium and type of solvents is water, ethanol and acetone. The variables observed were the physical quality of wet blue and the physicochemical quality of the finished leather. The data obtained from the results of the research were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) if there were significantly different results obtained, followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The quality of wet blue skin as a result of this research percentage of chromium nested in type of solvent showed a very significant difference (P<0.01) on the quality of wet blue except pH and water content. On the physicochemical quality of the finished leather (leather), the results of this study showed that the percentage of chromium nested in type of solvent showed a very significant difference (P<0.01) the quality of the finished leather. Based on the results of research the percentage chromium nested in the type of solvent with reference to SNI 2981:2009, from this study it can be concluded that the Phase I research is quality of wet blue with the use of ethanol solvent type (L2) and 4% chromium percentage (B) is the best treatment with an average water content 54.67%, total chromium 3.68%, pH 3.53 and wrinkle temperature 91.57°C. On the physicochemical quality of finished leather with an average strichtear strength of 14.40 N/mm2, tensile strength 15.40 N/mm2, elongation at break 54.32%, water content 4.76%, total chromium 3.64%, ash content 4.62%, fat content 2.44% and pH 4.41.
