Abstract

Air adalah sumber kehidupan yang sangat penting bagi keberlangsungan makhluk hidup di muka bumi. Namun seiring arus modernisasi dan pertumbuhan jumlah penduduk, kebutuhan akan air juga meningkat, yang sayangnya diikuti pula dengan menurunnya kualitas air. Buruknya kualitas air berpengaruh pada kondisi kesehatan dan keselamatan makhluk hidup. Salah satu badan air yang umum ditemukan adalah sungai. Sungai merupakan badan air yang menampung limbah dari kegiatan manusia di daerah sekitarnya. Masuknya limbah ke sungai dapat memengaruhi kondisi alami sungai, seperti menyebabkan perubahan fisika, kimia, dan biologi yang dapat berdampak buruk pada ekosistem sungai. Untuk menjaga agar sungai tetap pada kondisi alaminya, perlu dilakukan pemeliharaan kualitas air sungai, salah satunya dengan melakukan pemantauan. Sungai Mewek-Kalisari-Bango merupakan salah satu sungai utama di Kota Malang. Keberadaan sungai ini sangat penting bagi masyarakat sekitar sungai, seperti digunakan untuk keperluan mandi, masak, irigasi, dan lain-lain. Namun saat ini terjadi banyak penumpukan sampah di sepanjang sungai, utamanya sampah hasil kegiatan domestik. Selain itu, permasalahan limbah industri dan pertanian juga memperburuk kualitas air sungai. Hal ini sesuai dengan hasil pemantauan yang menunjukkan beberapa parameter kualitas air sungai telah melewati baku mutu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan status mutu air Sungai Mewek-KalisariBango menggunakan metode Indeks Pencemaran, WQI, dan NSF-WQI. Penentuan status mutu air dilakukan berdasarkan hasil pemantauan pada musim kemarau di Jembatan Jl. Atletik, Jembatan Mewek, Jembatan Kalisari, dan Jembatan Jl. Ranu Grati. Penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk mengetahui sumber pencemaran sungai berdasarkan penggunaan lahan di sekitar sungai. Hasil status mutu air Sungai Mewek-Kalisari-Bango dapat disimpulkan sebagai berikut: metode Indeks Pencemaran (tercemar ringan), metode WQI (bersih), dan metode NSF-WQI (sedang). Perbedaan hasil ini disebabkan oleh perbedaan cara perhitungan dan parameter yang digunakan. Berdasarkan penggunaan lahan, pada segmentasi Sungai Mewek-Kalisari-Bango bagian hulu sumber pencemaran didominasi limbah pertanian. Sedangkan pada bagian tengah dan hilir sumber pencemaran didominasi limbah domestik. Secara umum sumber pencemaran pada Sungai Mewek-Kalisari-Bango terdiri dari limbah domestik, pertanian, dan industri. Namun berdasarkan hasil analisis korelasi dengan metode Spearman, didapat bahwa tidak ada korelasi antara luas tutupan lahan dan kualitas air, baik pada kualitas tiap parameter maupun status mutu airnya.

English Abstract

Water is a very important source of life for living things on earth. But along with the flow of modernization and population growth, the need for water also increased, which unfortunately was followed by a decline in water quality. Poor water quality affects the health condition of living things. One of the commonly found bodies of water is rivers. A river is a body of water that collects waste from human activities in the surrounding area. The entry of waste into the river can affect the natural condition of the river, such as causing physical, chemical, and biological changes that can adversely affect the river ecosystem. To keep the river in its natural condition, it is necessary to maintain river water quality, one of which is by monitoring. Mewek-Kalisari-Bango River is one of the main rivers in Malang City. The existence of this river is very important for the community around the river, such as being used for bathing, cooking, irrigating, and others. However, there is currently a lot of garbage accumulation along the river, mainly waste from domestic activities. In addition, the problem of industrial and agricultural waste also worsens the quality of river water. This is in accordance with the monitoring results which show that several river water quality parameters have passed quality standards. This study aims to determine the water quality status of the Mewek-Kalisari-Bango River using Pollution Index, WQI, and NSF-WQI methods. The determination of water quality status was carried out based on the results of monitoring in the dry season at the Athletic Road Bridge, Mewek Bridge, Kalisari Bridge, and Ranu Grati Road Bridge. This study also aims to determine the source of river pollution based on land use around the river. The results of the water quality status of the Mewek-Kalisari-Bango River can be summarized as follows: the Pollution Index method (slightly polluted), the WQI method (clean), and the NSF-WQI method (medium). The difference in results is due to differences in calculation methods and parameters used. Based on land use around the river, in the upstream segmentation of the Mewek-Kalisari-Bango River, the source of pollution is dominated by agricultural waste. Meanwhile, in the middle and downstream, the source of pollution is dominated by domestic waste. In general, sources of pollution in the MewekKalisari-Bango River consist of domestic, agricultural and industrial waste. However, based on the results of the correlation analysis using the Spearman method, it was found that there was no correlation between the area of land cover and water quality, both in the quality of each parameter and the status of the water quality.
