Abstract

English Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has spread rapidly to various groups, including the adolescent age group. Restrictions on physical activity and mental health in adolescents affect body image assessment and diet during the COVID-19 pan- demic. This study was conducted to determine the relationship between body im- age satisfaction and protein intake of high school adolescent girls who undergo distance education during the COVID-19 pandemic. This type of research uses quantitative methods with an analytic observational design. The sampling method in this study was stratified non-random sampling. Respondents totaled 106 people with the criteria of high school students in Samarinda City with an age range of 15- 18 years. Most of the respondents were 15 years old (41.5%). A total of 86 re- spondents (81.1%) stated that they were satisfied with their body image. The most protein intake group was the excess category (81.1%). The results showed there was a relationship between body image satisfaction and protein intake of adoles- cent girls (p<0.01). Adolescent girls with a positive body image usually have a diet with frequent frequency in 24 hours. This eating pattern is related to the protein intake of most respondents which is classified as excess of the RDA. The conclu- sion of this study is that body image satisfaction has a relationship with protein intake, where the satisfaction of adolescent girls with their body image is influenced by whether or not the protein intake received by the body is sufficient.
