Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of combined calcium and phytobiotics as feed additives on protein digestibility, metabolic energy, and nitrogen retention of Mojosari duck. The method used in this research were Complete Randomized Design (CRD) consist of 6 treatments and 4 replications. The treatment used were T0 (basal feed), T1 (basal feed + 0.5% antibiotics), T2 (basal feed + 0.25% combined calcium and phytobiotics), T3 (basal feed + 0.5% combined calcium and phytobiotics), T4 (basal feed + 0.75% combined calcium and phytobiotics), and T5 (basal feed + 1% combined calcium and phytobiotics). The variables included protein digestibility, metabolic energy (AME and AMEn), and nitrogen retention. Data were analyzed statistically using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). If the data results were different between treatments, then proceed with Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results showed that combined calcium and phytobiotics gave very significant effect (P<0.01) on protein digestibility and nitrogen retention, but gave no effect on apparent metabolizable energy (AME) and apparent metabolizable energy corrected with nitrogen (AMEn) of Mojosari duck. The use of combined calcium and phytobiotics at 0.25% level gave the best effect in this research.
