Abstract
Salah satu karya Henricus Maclaine Pont adalah Gereja Puhsarang Kabupaten Kediri. Sejak tahun 1936 hingga saat ini bangunan tersebut masih berfungsi sebagai tempat peribadatan umat Katolik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menerapkan teori gaya arsitektur Gereja Katolik, liturgi Gereja Katolik, dan konstruksi dinding penopang guna mendapatkan karakter arsitektural pembentuk bangunan, kemudian menerapkan teori preservasi, konservasi, rehabilitasi, dan rekonstruksi guna mendapatkan strategi kegiatan pelestarian yang sesuai. Metode yang diterapkan adalah analisis kualitatif, didalamnya terdapat metode deskriptif-analitis, metode evaluatif, dan metode developmen. Hasil dari analisis menunjukkan bahwa perpaduan aristektur barat dengan arsitektur Nusantara ciri khas dari Pont sangat dominan, hal tersebut dapat dilihat dari bentuk atap hasil perpaduan gaya gotik dengan arsitektur batak karo pada karakter visual, penerapan liturgi Gereja Katolik yang dipadukan dengan budaya jawa pada karakter spasial, dan penerapan soko guru ditambah arc gothic kemudian diikat dengan usuk dan reng pada karakter struktural. Strategi kegiatan pelestarian yang sesuai adalah konservasi dan rehabilitasi karena hasil dari penilaian makna kultural menunjukkan bahwa karakter arsitektural pembentuk bangunan dari Gereja Puhsarang sedikit terlihat, telah mengalami beberapa perubahan, dan cukup terawat.
English Abstract
One of Henricus Maclaine Pont's works is Puhsarang Church. Since 1936 until now the building is still functioning as a place for worship for Catholics. This study aims to apply the theory of the architectural style of the Catholic Church, liturgy of the Catholic Church, and buttresses construction to obtain the architectural character, then apply theories of preservation, conservation, rehabilitation and reconstruction to obtain appropriate conservation activity strategies. The applied method is descriptive-analytical methods, evaluative methods, and development methods. The study results show that the combination of western architecture with Archipelago architecture which is Pont characteristics is very dominant, this can be seen from the shape of the roof resulting from a combination of Gothic style and Karo Batak architecture in the visual character, application liturgy of the Catholic Church combined with Javanese culture on spatial character, and the application of pillars plus a gothic arc then tied with ribs and battens on structural characters. The appropriate conservation activity strategy is conservation and rehabilitation because the results of the cultural meaning assessment show that the architectural character of the Puhsarang Church is slightly visible, has undergone several changes, and is quite well maintained.
