Abstract

Latar Belakang: Karies gigi merupakan suatu kerusakan gigi disebabkan aktivitas bakteri yang terjadi di rongga mulut. Streptococcus mutans adalah bakteri yang paling dominan dalam pembentukan karies. Antibakteri dengan bahan dasar tumbuhan diyakini mempunyai khasiat antibakteri dengan efek samping minimal. Kulit pisang kepok diyakini dapat dijadikan antibakteri yang murah, mudah ditemukan dan efek samping minimal. Tujuan: Mengetahui pengaruh ekstrak kulit pisang kepok (Musa paradisiaca L.) terhadap Streptococcus mutans dengan metode in silico. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan eksperimental in silico. Sampel berupa model protein Streptococcus mutans, diberikan 1 ligan kontrol dan 10 ligan bebas dari senyawa turunan ekstrak kulit pisang kepok. Bahan uji diinput kedalam Molegro Virtual Docker (MVD) untuk melihat rerank score, ikatan hidrogen dan ikatan sterik. Hasil: Isokuersitrin dan rutin dari golongan flavonoid menunjukan rerank score lebih rendah dari astilbin, dan juga ikatan hidrogen dan ikatan sterik sama dengan astilbin. Kesimpulan: Ekstrak kulit pisang kepok berpengaruh terhadap Streptococcus mutans secara in silico

English Abstract

Background: Dental caries is a tooth decay caused by bacterial activity that occurs in the oral cavity. Streptococcus mutans is the most dominant bacteria in caries formation. Antibacterial with plantbased ingredients are believed to have antibacterial properties with minimal side effects. Kepok banana peel is believed to be used as an antibacterial that is cheap, easy to find and minimal side effects. Purpose: To determine the effect of kepok banana peel extract (Musa paradisiaca L.) on Streptococcus mutans using the in silico method. Methods: This study used in silico experimental. The sample was changed to the Streptococcus mutans protein model, given 1 control ligand and 10 free ligands from a compound derived from kepok banana peel extract. The test material is inputted into the Molegro Virtual Docker (MVD) to see the rerank score, hydrogen bonds and steric bonds. Results: Isoquercitrin and rutin from the flavonoid group showed a lower rank score than astilbin, and also the hydrogen bonds and steric bonds were the same as astilbin. Conclusion: Kepok banana peel extract has an in silico effect on Streptococcus mutans.
