RINGKASAN RIZKA AL-FAIQOH. 195040200113042. Efek Xenia Terhadap Karakter Produktivitas Tujuh Galur Jagung Pakan (Zea mays L.). Dibawah bimbingan Prof. Ir. Arifin Noor Sugiharto, M.Sc., Ph.D. Sebagai Pembimbing Utama Jagung (Zea mays L.) merupakan salah satu komoditas pangan kedua setelah beras di Indonesia. Kebutuhan jagung untuk pakan ternak juga cukup tinggi yang menunjukkan ketersediaan dan keberlanjutan produksi dan produktivitas jagung perlu diperhatikan agar tetap stabil dan dapat mendukung produksi dan produktivitas ternak, salah satunya menggunakan benih hibrida. Dalam produksi benih hibrida, diperlukan calon tetua yang memiliki sifat unggul seperti memiliki daya gabung khusus untuk digunakan dalam proses persilangan, sebab berpotensi memiliki heterosis yang tinggi dan berpengaruh pada peningkatan kualitas dan kuantitas hasil produksi serta pada biaya produksinya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis efek xenia terhadap karakter produktivitas tujuh galur jagung pakan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Februari - Juni 2023 di lahan percobaan CV. Blue Akari yang terletak di Kelurahan Dadaprejo, Kecamatan Junrejo, Kota Batu. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pengamatan tanam tunggal atau pengamatan pada setiap individu tanaman dari 7 galur tanaman. Persilangan yang dilakukan berupa crossing dan sibmate. Karakter yang diamati berupa karakter kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Karakter kualitatif yang akan diamati yaitu bentuk tongkol dan bentuk biji. Sedangkan karakter kuantitatif yang akan diamati diantaranya bobot tongkol per plot, bobot kering tongkol tanpa kelobot, panjang tangkai, panjang tongkol, diameter tongkol, tip filling, jumlah baris biji, bobot janggel, bobot biji, bobot 100 biji, jumlah tongkol per tanaman, rendemen, dan hasil panen per hektar. Data kualitatif dianalisis secara deskriptif, sedangkan data kuantitatif dianalisis menggunakan uji t independen dengan taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara keseluruhan, diketahui adanya efek xenia pada ketujuh galur percobaan dan dilihat melalui hasil perbandingan yang tinggi antara rerata pada perlakuan crossing daripada perlakuan sibmate pada setiap karakter yang diuji. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, galur JP-2, JP-5, JP-6, dan JP-7 memiliki jumlah karakter terbanyak yang dipengaruhi oleh efek xenia. Karakter yang dipengaruhi diantaranya bobot kering tongkol tanpa kelobot, bobot biji, bobot 100 biji, dan rendemen. Selanjutnya, adanya pengaruh xenia menunjukkan perbaikan hasil produksi pada galur betina dapat dilakukan dengan memanfaatkan polen galur jantan terbaik untuk memaksimalkan hasil atau meningkatkan kualitas produk buah dan biji.

SUMMARY RIZKA AL-FAIQOH. 195040200113042. Effects of Xenia on Character Productivity of Seven Lines of Corn (Zea mays L.). Supervised by Prof. Ir. Arifin Noor Sugiharto, M.Sc., Ph.D. as main supervisor. Corn (Zea mays L.) is one of the second food commodities after rice in Indonesia. The need for corn for animal feed is also quite high, which indicates the availability and sustainability of corn production and productivity needs to be considered so that it remains stable and can support livestock production and productivity, one of which is the use of hybrid seeds. In the production of hybrid seeds, it is necessary to have prospective parents who have superior characteristics such as having special combining abilities for use in the cross process, because they have the potential to have high heterosis and affect the increase in the quality and quantity of production as well as on production costs. The purpose of this study was to determine and analyze the effect of xenia on the productivity characteristics of seven feed maize lines This research was conducted in February - June 2023 at the CV. Blue Akari which is located in Dadaprejo Village, Junrejo District, Batu City. This study used the single plant observation method or observations on each individual plant from 7 plant lines. Crosses are made in the form of crossing and sibmate. The observed characters are qualitative and quantitative characters. The qualitative characters to be observed are ear shape and kernel shape. While the quantitative characters to be observed include ear weight per plot, dry weight of ear without husks, stalk length, ear length, ear diameter, tip filling, number of rows of seeds, weight of cob, grain weight, 100 grain weight, number of ear per plant, rendement, and yield per hectare. Qualitative data were analyzed descriptively, while quantitative data were analyzed using an independent t test with a level of 5%. The results showed that overall, it was known that there was a xenia effect on the seventh experimental lines and seen through the results of a high comparison between the mean in the crossing treatment than in the sibmate treatment for each character tested. Based on this, the JP-2, JP-5, JP-6, and JP-7 lines had the highest number of characters affected by the xenia effect. Characters that were affected included dry weight of cobs without husk, seed weight, weight of 100 seeds, and yield. Furthermore, the influence of xenia indicates that production yields of female lines can be improved by utilizing the best male pollen lines to maximize yields or improve the quality of fruit and seed products.
