Abstract
Tanaman mentimun (Cucumis sativus L) yang termasuk labu-labuan atau cucurbitaceae adalah tumbuhan yang menghasilkan buah dan dapat dikonsumsi. Mentimun bukan termasuk tanaman asli di Indonesia, tetapi tanaman mentimun sudah dikenal oleh masyarakat Indonesia. Produksi mentimun mengalami peningkatan dalam 4 tahun terakhir. Walaupun produksi mentimun ini terus mengalami peningkatan, namun dalam kegiatan budidayanya tidak terlepas dari beberapa kendala antara lain karena hama penyakit, gulma, dan kecukupan hara. Penggunaan mulsa organik pada budidaya dapat mencegah kehilangan air pada dalam tanah dan dapat memperbaiki kesuburan, struktur dan mempertahankan agregasi dan porositas tanah. Tanaman kacang-kacangan merupakan salah satu alternatif yang memiliki potensi sebagai penyedia nitrogen, pengendali gulma yang efektif melalui mekanisme penutupan permukaan tanah. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan November 2022 hingga Februari 2023. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Desa Blobo, Desa Sukoraharjo, Kecamatan Kepanjen, Kabupaten Malang, Provinsi Jawa Timur. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan yaitu Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK). Dengan masing-masing 4 ulangan, berikut 7 perlakuannya, yaitu MM = Mentimun monokultur, MTTJ = Mentimun + kacang tanah tanpa jerami, MKTJ = Mentimun + kedelai tanpa jerami, MBTJ = Mentimun + buncis kenya tanpa jerami, MTJ = Mentimun + kacang tanah + jerami, MKJ = Mentimun + kedelai + jerami, MBJ = Mentimun + buncis kenya + jerami. Hasil penelitian menunjukan kombinasi mentimun dengan kacang tanah, kedelai, buncis kenya dan mulsa jerami sebagai pengendalian gulma yang terbaik, hal ini dikarenakan kacang-kacangan dan mulsa dapat menekan pertumbuhan gulma pada perakaran tanaman mentimun. Penggunaan kombinasi tanaman sela kacang tanah, kedalai, buncis kenya dan mulsa juga dapat meningkatkan penyerapan unsur hara, serta dapat meningkatkan hasil panen tanaman mentimun. Penekanan gulma dan peningkatan unsur hara dapat berpengaruh positif yang dapat dilihat dari parameter pengamatan panjang tanaman mentimun, luas daun mentimun, berat kering brangkasan mentimun, nodul aktif kacang-kacangan. Selanjutnya, peningkatan hasil bobot buah mentimun dengan kombinasi kedelai dengan pengaplikasian mulsa jerami dibandingkan dengan mentimun monokultur mengalami persentase kenaikan 64%, kombinasi kacang tanah dan mulsa jerami mengalami persentase kenaikan 52%, dan pada kombinasi buncis kenya dan jerami mengalami kenaikan 48%.
English Abstract
Cucumber plant (Cucumis sativus L) which includes pumpkins orcucurbitaceae are plants that produce fruit and can be consumed. Cucumber is not a native plant in Indonesia, but cucumber plants are well known by Indonesian people. Cucumber production has increased in the last 4 years. Although the production of cucumbers continues to increase, the cultivation activities are not free from several obstacles, among others due to pests, weeds, and nutrient adequacy. The use of organic mulch in cultivation can prevent water loss in the soil and can improve fertility, structure and maintain soil aggregation and porosity. Legumes are an alternative that has the potential as a provider of nitrogen, effective weed control through the mechanism of covering the soil surface. The research was conducted from November 2022 to February 2023. This research was carried out in Blobo Village, Sukoraharjo Village, Kepanjen District, Malang Regency, East Java Province. This study uses a design that is Randomized Block Design (RBD). With 4 replicates each, there were 7 treatments, namely MM = Cucumber monoculture, MTTJ = Cucumber + peanut without straw, MKTJ = Cucumber + soybean without straw, MBTJ = Cucumber + Kenya beans without straw, MTJ = Cucumber + peanut + straw, MKJ = Cucumber + soybean + straw, MBJ = Cucumber + chickpea + straw. The results showed the combination of cucumber with peanuts, soybeans, kenya beans and straw mulch as the best weed control, this is because legume and mulch can suppress weed growth on cucumber plant roots. The use of a combination of crops between peanuts, soybeans, kenya beans and mulch can also increase nutrient absorption, and can increase yields of cucumber plants. Suppressing weeds and increasing nutrients can have a positive effect which can be seen from the parameters of observing cucumber plant length, cucumber leaf area, cucumber stover dry weight, active nodules of legumes. Furthermore, the yield increase in cucumber fruit weight with the combination of soybeans and the application of straw mulch compared to monoculture cucumbers experienced a 64% increase, the combination of peanuts and straw mulch experienced a 52% increase, and the combination of kenya beans and straw increased 48%.
