English Abstract

Speaking skill is one of the skills that students must master when learning English. Speaking skills become important since English is used throughout the world. Unfortunately, English learning is still treated as foreign language. As students who learn English as foreign language, they faced various unique problems. This research aims to find out the correlation between poster presentation and students’ speaking skill improvement. Therefore, correlational study was employed in this research. This research used 108th 8 grader students of SMPN 1 Singosari from 4 out of 10 classes since those four classes are implementing poster presentation. The research was conducted from August 4 to September 1, 2022. The research instrument was used students’ speaking performance and poster presentation. There are three assessed speaking’s aspects based on reviewed literature namely pronunciation, fluency, and accuracy with 4 as the maximum score each aspect so the maximum total score is 12. The data then analyzed using SPSS 22 to find out the correlation between two variables and how correlated the given treatment. From this study it is found that the students’ speaking performance and poster presentation data have weak correlation.
