Abstract
English Abstract
Vannamei shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) is one of the aquaculture species that have such a great demand, that makes vannamei cultivation continues to increase. Along with the development of intensive aquaculture in shrimp farming, several challenges have emerged, including disease attacks, slow shrimp growth, and decreased quality of the aquaculture environment. One of the disease on vannamei shrimp is the presence of pathogenic bacteria in ponds. Such disease can be controlled through water quality management, by using probiotics. Water quality can affect the growth performance of vannamei shrimp, the total bacteria and the abundance of plankton in water. Analysis of the use of probiotics for vannamei shrimp farming aquaculture is intended to provide information about the effect of probiotics on growth performance, total bacteria and plankton in vannamei shrimp cultivation. The research held on 30 August 2022 – 18 December 2022 in Kertosari Village, Pemalang Regency, Central Java. The research method used was comparative descriptive method, by comparing the effect of pond with probiotics and without probiotics treatment on growth performance, total bacteria and plankton in vannamei shrimp cultivation. The probiotics that have been used were Super NB, Super PS and Bio Solution. Sampling was carried out to see the growth of shrimp after 30 first Day Of Culture (DOC) until harvest time with a total of 14 times sampling. Water quality management and feeding management in the cultivation method are carried out according to the Standard Operational Procedure of PT. CP Prima. The main parameters in the form of growth performance include Survival Rate (SR), Average Daily Growth (ADG), Specific Growth Rate (SGR), biomass, Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), total bacteria and plankton of vannamei shrimp cultivation in pond without probiotics and pond with probiotics treatment. Supporting parameters are water quality which includes temperature, salinity, pH, brightness, ammonia, nitrite, and Total Organic Matter (TOM). Pond with probiotics treatment had an effect on the performance of shrimp growth. Probiotic treatment pond shows good growth performance at SR with a value of 81.5%. ADG was 0,32 grams/day, biomass was 967.63 kg, and FCR was 0.98. Probiotics pond and without probiotics did not have a significant effect on ADG parameters. Total bacteria in probiotics pond was higher than pond without probiotics, where the TB values in pond without probiotics ranged from 3,600-38,100 CFU/ml, while the TB values in probiotics pond ranged from 2,700-71,700 CFU/ml. The abundance of plankton in pond without probiotics was higher than in probiotics pond, where the value of plankton abundance in pond without probiotics ranged from 807,800 – 2,206,400 cell/ml, while the value of plankton abundance in probiotics pond ranged from 677,100-1,488,000 cell/ml.
