Abstract
Peningkatan CO2 disebabkan oleh emisi gas rumah kaca yang dihasilkan oleh aktivitas manusia seperti pembakaran bahan bakar fosil dan kegiatan pertanian. Emisi ini menyebabkan penyerapan radiasi matahari dan pemanasan global. Mangrove adalah ekosistem pesisir penting yang dapat mengurangi CO2 di atmosfer melalui proses fotosintesis dan penyimpanan karbon dalam biomassa tumbuhan dan tanah. Akar mangrove juga menahan sedimen dan material organik yang membentuk endapan lumpur yang kaya akan karbon organik. Ekosistem mangrove memiliki peran penting dalam menjaga keseimbangan lingkungan dan menangkal perubahan iklim global. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi stok karbon dan potensi penyerapan karbon dalam ekosistem mangrove di Gunung Pithing Mangrove Conservation (GPMC) Tamban, yang terletak di Desa Tambakrejo, Malang Selatan, Indonesia. Penelitian ini berfokus pada penilaian biodiversitas spesies mangrove, estimasi nilai biomassa, dan penentuan stok karbon dalam hutan mangrove. Data primer dan sekunder digunakan, termasuk survei lapangan, studi literatur, dan pengukuran kualitas air. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hutan mangrove di GPMC Tamban memiliki biodiversitas yang tinggi, dengan delapan spesies mangrove yang teridentifikasi, yaitu Avicennia officinalis, Nypa fruticans, Bruguiera gymnorrizha, Rhizophora apiculata, Sonneratia alba, Ceriops tagal, Xylocarpus granatum, dan Rhizophora mucronata. Parameter Kualitas Perairan yang didapatkan pada lokasi penelitian diketahui masih termasuk dalam baku mutu sesuai dengan Peraturan Pemerintah Republik Indonesia Nomor 22 Tahun 2021. Indeks keanekaragaman menunjukkan nilai 3,84, yang menandakan keanekaragaman yang tinggi dalam ekosistem mangrove. Selain itu, nilai biomassa dan stok karbon dalam hutan mangrove GPMC Tamban juga diestimasi. Biomassa atas permukaan berkisar antara 44,75 – 681,54 ton/ha, sedangkan biomassa bawah permukaan berkisar antara 4,71 – 245,28 ton/ha. Begitu pula, stok karbon atas permukaan berkisar antara 20,58 – 313,51 ton/ha, dan stok karbon bawah permukaan berkisar antara 1,84 – 95,66 ton/ha.
English Abstract
The increase in CO2 is caused by emissions of greenhouse gases produced by human activities such as burning fossil fuels and agricultural activities. These emissions cause absorption of solar radiation and global warming. Mangroves are important coastal ecosystems that can reduce CO2 in the atmosphere through the process of photosynthesis and carbon storage in plant and soil biomass. Mangrove roots also retain sediment and organic material which forms silt deposits which are rich in organic carbon. Mangrove ecosystems have an important role in maintaining environmental balance and counteracting global climate change. This study aims to evaluate carbon stocks and carbon sequestration potential in the mangrove ecosystem in Gunung Pithing Mangrove Conservation (GPMC) Tamban, located in Tambakrejo Village, South Malang, Indonesia. This research focuses on assessing the biodiversity of mangrove species, estimating the value of biomass, and determining carbon stocks in mangrove forests. Primary and secondary data were used, including field surveys, literature studies, and water quality measurements. The results showed that the mangrove forest in GPMC Tamban has high biodiversity, with eight identified mangrove species, namely Avicennia officinalis, Nypa fruticans, Bruguiera gymnorrizha, Rhizophora apiculata, Sonneratia alba, Ceriops tagal, Xylocarpus granatum, and Rhizophora mucronata. It is known that the water quality parameters obtained at the research location are still included in the quality standards according to the Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 22 of 2021. The diversity index shows a value of 3.84, which indicates high diversity in the mangrove ecosystem. In addition, the value of biomass and carbon stock in the Tamban GPMC mangrove forest is also estimated. The above-surface biomass ranged from 44,75 – 681,54 ton/ha, while the below-surface biomass ranged from 4,71 – 245,28 ton/ha. Likewise, the above-surface carbon stock ranges from 20,58 – 313,51 ton/ha, and the below-surface carbon stock ranges from 01,84 – 95,66 ton/ha.
