Abstract

Latar Belakang: Banyak masyarakat yang tidak menjaga kualitas makanan yang diolahnya bahkan tidak mempertimbangkan dampaknya bagi kesehatan konsumen. Beberapa jenis makanan sering kali diberi tambahan boraks, seperti mie, tahu, bakso, krupuk, dll. Boraks termasuk kedalam zat yang berbahaya bagi tubuh karena boraks dapat membentuk radikal bebas yang akan merusak membrane sel, termasuk membrane sel plasenta selama masa kehamilan sehingga membuat massa plasenta menjadi berkurang . Oleh karena itu, radikal bebas yang ada didalam tubuh perlu diimbangi dengan pemberian antioksidan eksogen yang dapat diperoleh dengan mengkonsumsi sayur dan buah yang kaya akan kandungan antioksidan, seperti bayam. Tujuan: Mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak daun bayam merah (Amaranthus tricolor) terhadap berat plasenta tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus) bunting yang dipapar boraks. Metode: Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian eksperimental dengan menggunakan rancangan Randomized Only Post Test Control Group Design. Jumlah sampel pada penelitian ini adalah 25 ekor tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus), dimana terbagi kedalam 5 kelompok, yaitu 2 kelompok kontrol dan 3 kelompok perlakuan. Hasil: Berdasarkan dari hasil uji Kruskal Wallis didapatkan nilai probabilitas sebesar 0.001 (p < 0.05) sehingga terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada rata-rata berat plasenta tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus). Kesimpulan: Paparan boraks dapat menyebabkan penurunan berat plasenta tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus) bunting dan dan dosis ekstrak daun bayam merah (Amaranthus tricolor) yang paling berpengaruh terhadap berat plasenta tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus) bunting yang dipapar boraks adalah dosis pada kelompok perlakuan 1, yaitu sebesar 0.5 gram/KgBB/hari.

English Abstract

Background: Many people need to maintain the quality of the food they process or even consider the impact on consumers health. Several types of food are often added with borax, such as noodles, tofu, meatballs, crackers, etc. reduce placental mass. Therefore, free radicals in the body must be balanced by providing exogenous antioxidants, which can be obtained by consuming vegetables and fruits rich in antioxidants, such as spinach. Purpose: To determine the effect of red spinach (Amaranthus tricolor) leaf extract on the placental weight of pregnant white rats (Rattus norvegicus) exposed to borax. Methods: This experimental research uses Randomized Only Post Test Control Group Design. The number of samples in this study was 25 white rats (Rattus norvegicus) divided into five groups, namely two control groups and three treatment groups. Results: Based on the results of the Kruskal Wallis test, a probability value of 0.001 (p <0.05) was obtained so that there was a significant difference in the average placental weight of white rats (Rattus norvegicus). Conclusion: Exposure to borax can cause a decrease in the placental weight of pregnant white rats (Rattus norvegicus), and the dose of red spinach leaf extract (Amaranthus tricolor) that has the most effect on the placental weight of pregnant white rats (Rattus norvegicus) exposed to borax is the dose in treatment group 1, which is equal to 0,5 gram/KgBB/day.
