Abstract
English Abstract
Background: Breast milk is an ideal food with a composition and nutritional content that meets the needs of infants for their growth and development during the first six months. Breast milk is recommended for all babies, both term and preterm infants. Term breast milk and preterm breast milk are known to have different levels of composition including fat in the first month because preterm infants need accelerated growth. Apart from being influenced by the nutrition of breast milk, weight gain is also influenced by breastfeeding techniques because it determines the transfer of breast milk from mother to baby. Objective: to determine the relationship between fat levels and breastfeeding technique on the weight gain of term and preterm infants aged 4th weeks. Methods: A correlation study with a cross-sectional approach was carried out on 30 samples selected purposive sampling and met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: of the study showed that there was no significant relationship between fat levels and breastfeeding technique on weight of term and preterm infants aged 4 weeks, as evidenced by the p value > 0.05 in the correlation test of fat levels of breast milk on weight gain at term and preterm infants and p value > 0.05 in the correlation test of breastfeeding technique on the weight gain of term and preterm infants. Conclusion: fat levels and breastfeeding technique are not related to weight gain at term and preterm infants aged 4 weeks
