Abstract
Novel The Architecture of Love menceritakan tentang kisah asmara dua orang pekerja kaum urban Jakarta yang melarikan diri ke New York. Keduanya sama-sama memiliki trauma masa lalu yang pedih karena ditinggalkan oleh pasangannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tentang aspek romantisme dan bentuk cinta yang dialami dua tokoh utama dalam novel The Architecture of Love. Metode penelitian yang digunakan penelitian ini adalah metode analisis deskriptif dengan kajian psikologi sastra. Data penelitian diperoleh dari narasi, dialog, monolog yang ada di dalam novel The Architecture of Love yang terkait dengan aspek yang ingin diteliti. Dalam menganalisis data, peneliti menggunakan teori segitiga cinta Robert Sternberg (1986). Hasil penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa adanya beberapa aspek pengalaman keintiman yang dirasakan Raia dan River, yaitu: meningkatkan kesejahteraan orang yang dicintai, pembukaan diri, merasakan kebahagiaan bersama, memberi dukungan emosional, adanya komunikasi intim, menerima dukungan emosional, dan menghargai orang yang dicintai. Pengalaman hasrat berupa ketertarikan fisik dan penyempurnaan seksual; berpegangan tangan, berpelukan, dan berciuman. Komitmen: komitmen jangka panjang. Bentuk cinta yang dialami Raia dan River yaitu cinta sempurna karena hubungan mereka mencakup tiga komponen cinta.
English Abstract
The novel The Architecture of Love tells the story of the romance of Jakarta urban workers who flee to New York. Both have painful past traumas of being abandoned by their partners. This study aims to describe the aspects of romantism and forms of love experienced by the two main characters in the novel The Architecture of Love. The research method used by this research is a descriptive analysis method with a study of literary psychology. Research data is obtained from narratives, dialogues, monologues in the novel The Architecture of Love related to the aspects to be researched. In analyzing the data, researchers used Robert Sternberg's (1986) love triangle theory. The results of this study found that there are several aspects of intimacy experiences felt by Raia and River, namely: desire to promote the welfare of the loved one, sharing of one's self, experienced happiness with the loved one, giving of emotional support to the loved one, intimate communication with the loved one, receipt of emotional support from the loved one, and valuing the loved one in one's life. Experiences of desire in the form of physical attraction and sexual consummation; holding hands, hugging, and kissing. Commitment: long-term commitment. The form of love that Raia and River experience is consummate love because their relationship includes three components of love.
