Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh perbedaan media pendingin terhadap laju korosi, porositas, dan struktur mikro pada propeller setelah diberikan perlakuan panas dengan bahan Al-Si-Zn. Proses penelitian yaitu melakukan pemanasan sampai suhu 400oC lalu di-holding yang kemudian akan disusul dengan pendinginan secara cepat pada media pendinginan yang berbeda, yaitu air garam, air, oli, dan udara. Hardening dilakukan untuk memperbaiki sifat mekanik propeller agar dapat memiliki sifat tahan aus yang tinggi, kekuatan yang lebih baik, dan untuk mendapatkan kekerasan yang tinggi. Setelah dilakukan hardening maka dilanjutkan dengan pengujian laju korosi, porositas, dan struktur mikro. Pengujian laju korosi dilakukan dengan AUTOLAB PGSTAT 204, pengujian porositas dilakukan dengan pengujian mikro porositas dan pengujian piknometri, dan pengujian struktur mikro menggunakan mikroskop logam dan metode Hillard. Dari hasil pengujian laju korosi didapatkan pada variasi tanpa perlakuan didapat nilai 0,86718 mmpy, pada variasi pendinginan udara didapat nilai 0,73062 mmpy, pada variasi pendinginan oli didapat nilai 0,54419 mmpy, pada variasi media pendinginan air didapat nilai 0,48318 mmpy, dan pada variasi media pendinginan air garam didapat nilai 0,33284 mmpy. Dari hasil pengujian porositas juga didapat variasi tanpa perlakuan pada 7,61484%, variasi pendinginan udara pada 7,52875%, variasi pendinginan oli pada 7,48775%, variasi pendinginan air pada 7,45837%, dan variasi pendinginan air garam pada 7,3554%. Dari pengujian struktur mikro didapatkan bahwa semakin cepat pendinginannya maka ukuran butir akan semakin mengecil, pada variasi tanpa perlakuan didapat diameter 11,65 μm, pada variasi pendinginan udara didapat diameter 10,76 μm, pada variasi pendinginan oli didapat diameter 10,03 μm, pada variasi pendinginan air diapat diameter 9,38 μm, dan pada variasi pendinginan air garam didapat diameter 9,08 μm.
English Abstract
This research aims to determine the influence of different cooling media on the corrosion rate, porosity, and microstructure of a propeller after heat treatment using Al-Si-Zn material. The research process involves heating up to a temperature of 400°C and then holding it before rapidly cooling it using different cooling media, namely brine, water, oil, and air. Hardening is performed to improve the mechanical properties of the propeller, enabling it to have high wear resistance, better strength, and high hardness. After hardening, corrosion rate, porosity, and microstructure testing are conducted. Corrosion rate testing is performed using AUTOLAB PGSTAT 204, porosity testing involves micro porosity testing and pycnometer testing, and microstructure testing is conducted using a metal microscope and Hillard method. The corrosion rate testing results show that the untreated variation had a value of 0.86718 mmpy. The air cooling variation had a value of 0.73062 mmpy, the oil cooling variation had a value of 0.54419 mmpy, the water cooling variation had a value of 0.48318 mmpy, and the brine cooling variation had a value of 0.33284 mmpy. The porosity testing results also show that the untreated variation had a value of 7.61484%, the air cooling variation had a value of 7.52875%, the oil cooling variation had a value of 7.48775%, the water cooling variation had a value of 7.45837%, and the brine cooling variation had a value of 7.3554%. The microstructure testing reveals that the faster the cooling, the smaller the grain size. The untreated variation had a diameter of 11.65 μm, the air cooling variation had a diameter of 10.76 μm, the oil cooling variation had a diameter of 10.03 μm, the water cooling variation had a diameter of 9.38 μm, and the brine cooling variation had a diameter of 9.08 μm.
