Abstract
English Abstract
Based on the time of occurrence, diffable are divided into two, namely congenital and non congenital diffable. People with diffability are often trapped in societal stereotypes that cause them not to appear fully in social life, this is the case with people with diffability who work as artists. In Malang City, there are several artists with diffability who are engaged in painting, vocals, acting, dance, literature, and others. Apart from being trapped in society's stereotypes, they also experience problems in the creative process, even though some of them have achievements in the arts. This study aims to find out the differences between artists with congenital and non congenital diffable and to understand the liminality process in which there is the principle of stoicism to help them survive in their lives. The method used in this study is an ethnographic method which produces qualitative data. The results of this study are that there are differences between artists with congenital and non congenital diffable which lie in economic aspects, education, level and type of diffability, and when the diffability occurs. What underlies these differences is the duration of the adaptation process needed by artists with congenital and non congenital diffable. In the process of the liminality phase, artists with congenital and non congenital diffable also experience differences from the starting point of the three phases. In addition, artists with congenital and non congenital diffable apply the principles of stoicism in facing the challenges of facing the liminality and post liminality phases.
