Abstract

Penambahan feed additive pada pakan burung puyuh dapat memberikan efek yang baik bagi burng puyuh. Nanoenkapsulasi kunyit merupakan suatu produk enkapusulasi dengan berbahan dasar kunyit. Nanoenakpsulasi merupakan suatu teknologi penyalutan partikel yang memiliki diameter mikrometer sampai nanometer dengan menggunakan bahan-bahan enkapsulan khusus. Kunyit mengandung zat aktif berupa minyak atsiri, senyawa sesquiterpen dan monoterpen, kurkumin, bisdes-metoksikurkumin, desmetoksi kurkumin, minyak esensial seperti ar-turmeron, kurlon, arkurkumin, dan turmeron, pati, resin, dan selulosa. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi efek penambahan nanoenkapsulasi kunyit sebagai feed additive dalam pakan terhadap pH, viskositas digesta dan mikroflora usus yang meliputi Bakteri Asam Laktat (BAL), Salmonella sp. dan Escherichia coli. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan informasi dan pedoman mengenai pemberian nanoenkapsulasi kunyit sebagai feed additive alami.

English Abstract

The reason of conducting this research was due to nanoencapsulation of turmeric has not been used as an antimicrobial agent in poultry feed especially quail. Therefore, this research is to evaluate the effect of turmeric nanoencapsulation for pH, viscosity and population of intestinal microflora in the digesta of quail. The method was experiment with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments consisted of T0 = control feed (basal feed), T1 = basal feed + turmeric nanoencapsulation 0.1%, T2 = basal feed + turmeric nanoencapsulation 0.2%, and T3 = basal feed + turmeric nanoencapsulation 0.3%. The measured variables were pH, viscosity and population of intestinal microflora which consisted of Lactic Acid Bacteria, Escherichia coli and Salmonella sp. Data obtained in this study were transformed into logarithmic than analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) of the Completely Randomized Design, if there was a significant effect would tested by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test Method. The result showed that it significantly affected (P< 0.01) for Salmonella sp. and did not give different effect (P>0.05) against pH, viscosity, Lactic Acid Bacteria and Escherichia coli. The conclusion of the study is the addition of v turmeric nanoencapsulation does not affected pH, viscosity, Lactic Acid Bacteria and Escherichia coli, but it should not be used at 0.3% due to increasing the population of pathogenic microflora in quail. It is suggested that nanoencapsulation may be considered to replace the use of antibiotics in quail feed.
